We did not know Hexenkeller meant witch's cellar in German, but we had been struggling with Italian for 2 weeks until we arrived in the Sud Tirol & encountered German too. This entire region has stories about witches & it was reflected in the decor of the restaurant. The background music was German, perhaps the local group, “Kastelruther Spatzen" which is so popular. We started with a small but delightful salad bar. Our main course came quickly, even before we had finished our salads. I had the Cordon Bleu with rosti portatoes and asparagus. It was a huge platter of food but everything was delicious. My husband had asparagus risotto with a skewer of shrimp which he enjoyed. The house wine was also very good.

2 adults 35€: 2 first courses, water and 2 Apple strudel.
Easy to find in the town center right beside the clocktower. Nice location and nice food, but nothing special.

A great little restaurant run by Chief Daniel and his wife.
The Pork shank was enormous and very tasty. Also the lambchops were really good.
The wine list had lots of excellent local wines at very reasonable prices.
And excellent meal with good service, the waitress had some fascinating facial expressions and was most helpful. There is a history of witches in this part of the Dolomite's and this keller is where they were supposed to congregate.
Well worth a visit, Give my regards to Daniel.
