We did not know Hexenkeller meant witch's cellar in German, but we had been struggling with Italian for 2 weeks until we arrived in the Sud Tirol & encountered German too. This entire region has stories about witches & it was reflected in the decor of the restaurant. The background music was German, perhaps the local group, “Kastelruther Spatzen" which is so popular. We started with a small but delightful salad bar. Our main course came quickly, even before we had finished our salads. I had the Cordon Bleu with rosti portatoes and asparagus. It was a huge platter of food but everything was delicious. My husband had asparagus risotto with a skewer of shrimp which he enjoyed. The house wine was also very good.
