When you buy the ticket for Palazzo Ducale, you get the access to the palace, castle (Castello di San Giorgio) and (famous?) Camera degli Sposi. You should be able to see the palace gardens also, but they were closed for some reason when we were there. What to say... If you have already seen many palaces/castles particularly in bigger cities, you would find this one average at best. Camera degli Sposi is nice, but don't expect to be swept from your feet. But, if you have come to Mantua already, it's worth seeing it, not much more to do in the town anyway...

This is not a place to see how people lived, or old furniture, or exhibitions on former residents. Rather this is some collections of artwork spread out, I would not recommend it to small children as it gets boring after a while.

The historians will love this place. It is big and bitsy. Some of it well done especially the palace right at the end.

The castle had too many other works displayed that detracted from the history.

The video at the end was probably very good and informative but as it was only in Italian it was a big disappointment.

All in all at €12 a head. Was a tad overpriced for me but others will sing it's praises.

I’ve visited in may , not in the peak season. The castle itself was OK. You couldn’t really get to the top and there was not really a lot to see. I was semi-disappointed until I continue the rest of the tour. Overall I would say it’s OK but not necessarily a must see.
