Spent 5 nights here in mid June and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. From the warm greeting on arrival we relaxed into our spacious comfortable room with wonderful mountain and lake views. The hotel was 20 mins walk from the centre of Stresa where most of the restaurants, bars and shops are situated but we did it in 15 mins one night when it was raining heavily. We only booked bed and breakfast so we went down the town in the evenings but there is a restaurant, Lidrovolante, down by the Carciano Ferry and Cable Car just minutes away which was quite nice too - simple Italian food but one of the best views in Stresa as most of the restaurants in town are up the back streets. Breakfasts were good in the hotel - juice, some fruit, cereals, breads and croissants, pastries/cakes, ham, cheese, bacon, tiny sausages, scrambled egg and beans but no fried eggs and basically the same every day. Your first coffee or Tea was brought to the table the rest from the machine unless you asked. It was very pleasant sat outside on the terrace even though you do have the noise from the busy road. Everything in the hotel was clean and efficiently run by excellent staff and the pool was ultra-clean with a lifeguard ensuring people walked through the footbath before entering the pool area.

You must go to Isola Bella and Isla di Pescatore as it's so easy. We went with the main ferry booked right by the pier rather than the men in the hut because the times suited us better and we found it cheaper for what we wanted to do. You just hop on and hop off depending on where you want to go and at what time. We also went up on the Cable Car to the Alpine Gardens which was a pleasant 10 mins stroll from the cable stop.

All in all we had a great stay and we'd definitely recommend it. Unfortunately I left some things in the room when we left but when I contacted the hotel they had them sent on to me at home for a reasonable charge. Thanks to all at the Della Torre for such a nice stay.

We had a great time before we moved on for a couple of nights in Milan from the Train Station (10mins walk - 2nd turning right from hotel but no pavement). Also, if you aren't on a package to get to Stresa we caught the Lake Maggiore bus from Milan Malpensa Airport - you book online but pay on board. A minibus turned up to pick us up and as we were virtually the only ones on board he dropped us near the hotel - normally they stop opposite the Church in the car park on the front near Stresa Town Centre. Tours and TUI go to this hotel aswell if you would prefer half board.

Room tip: High floor Lake View rooms are better so you get less noise from the road and the railway line behind.

The walk from the train station is not as described (5 mins), but at least 10 and that is walking up a gradient.

I received an E-mail stating that we were allocated a room on the 4th floor. However we were given the room on the 2nd floor upon arrival. We discovered that the lake view was minimal and we decided to take it up with the management. He told us that there was no 4th floor and however he re-allocated us the 3rd floor which had a tremendous view. We were happy.

The room was well appointed and freshly decorated.

The breakfast was very good fresh but sparse.

Dinner was beautifully presented. Which I thought was good for a 3 star hotel.

Room tip: Higher the floor the better the view.

This is a nice place to stay in Strea. Situated outside the city center, but a nice walk by the lake to get to the city. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Close to the Funivia cable car to get to Mottarone for a nice view over the area. Close also to the taxi boats to the Borromean Islands.
