This is a step back into the 1980s, the sort of family run place that you no longer find in the UK and just how they do it I don't know. The rooms are large and the bathroom functional, the breakfasts are as you would expect. The bed was too soft for me but a shelf out of the wardrobe sorted that and the road noise was a little much but a bottle of red wine sorted that. The view from our room was gorgeous and it made you feel part of what was going on with the ferry comming and going and tourist coaches in the car park. Nowhere in Italy is quiet and this was no way the noisiest hotel on our trip. And the box of biscuits given us to aid our onward train trip were a great touch as was the help with sorting out our train!

Room tip: if you want a view yu have to have the road noise. Try a top floor room facing the lake (there is a lift)

Stayed here in October,It is on the front of the lake opposite the ferry stop.
The pros;
Convenient for visiting all of the lakes attractions.
Centrally located close to restaurants.
Staff were warm and friendly.
Continental breakfast was good, they served nice coffee and the breakfast room had a view of the lakefront.
Our room had a spacious balcony albeit at the rear of the hotel,
However for me i quite liked the view over the rooftops
Nice hot and powerful shower.
Now the cons...
Our room was a little depressing and tired looking but we weren`t in it too long,
It would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the room but this is typical of most Italian Hotels so therefore was only a minor problem.
Our room was a bit chilly in the evening and the bedding was blankets which didnt really keep you warm..
There was one spare blanket in a cupboard but that disappeared on the second night and only turned up again on our last night.
Twin beds .not for me and my partner im afraid especially when they are the most uncomfortable beds ive ever slept on.Nearly left the hotel for another but my partner wouldnt let me.
Stresa is lovely but i would probably stay in another hotel purely because the beds that we had were so uncomfortable. This was room 43 other rooms may be ok.

Hotel description on the web is misleading for the clients. It does not say anything hotel is located at the busy intersection on a noisy lake shore road just opposite the traffic light and big parking lot. We had a room with lake view facing this busy road. The noise from traffic and garbage removal over the nigh do not allow sleeping and makes stay in the room problematic. Advertised room lake view is mostly blocked by mature trees, so it does not meet our expectations at all. As a result, we stayed only 2 nights of 4 what were paid to the hotel in advance. The hotel owner (who is a reception person at the same time) was reluctant to help us changing the room, instead he was angry with our low opinion of his hotel.
Moving out of the hotel after 2 nights only, the hotel owner refused us to refund the remaining 2 nights - what is not honest.
Breakfast was very poor with only 1 type of cheese and 2 types of ham/sausage. More over the ham was not fresh - health hazard to the guests. It has to be mentioned also that hotel guests are provided with only 1 plate, with no extra empty plates available at all. This makes hotel guests reluctant to put the other meals on the same plate - so reduces meal consumption, what is amazing. I have never seen such poor breakfast in any hotel. Do not recommend staying at this hotel. Strong dissatisfaction is guaranteed.

Room tip: Please, avoid this hotel, what does not match description on the web

We stayed five nights in at the Hotel Italie et Suisse in Stresa and only wish it had been longer. The Hotel is in the most amazing location with a fabulous view of Lake Maggiore and surrounding mountains which we enjoyed from our very pretty balcony overloooking the lake. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made our stay very enjoyable. The Hotel benefits from being centrally located right opposite the ferry terminal - which we used to visit the beautiful Borroman Islands and Villa Taranto. There are also picturesque lakeside walks nearby and a fabulous selection of Bars and Restaurants. The Alibus from Malpensa Airport dropped us right outside the Hotel. The Hotel is also around 10 minutes walk from the Railway Station and not much further to the beautiful gardens and animal park at Villa Pallavicino.

We had a lovely stay in the Hotel Italie Et Suisse. The location is perfect, close to the lake boats for exploring the Borromee islands, approximately 1 minute!. Plenty of restaurants very close by.
The staff here were great, always welcoming and friendly.
Breakfast was good, fresh croissants and coffee every morning to start the day. The young lady and man who greeted you and prepared your hot drinks were lovely.
The hotel was very clean. Our room was lovely, at the front overlooking the lake. My only comment would be, it was a little dated and was in our opinion in need of updating.
Free WiFi for those that like it.
The shower is great, love a 'power shower'.
we enjoyed a lovely stay, thank you all.

Room tip: High floor at the front for a lake view
