Albergo Il Sole proved to be a very friendly family run hotel in the best possible location for a visit to the old town (Alta Cita) of Bergamo. The room was basic but very comfortable with good supplies of bottled water, shampoo, shower gel etc. The shower cubicle was small but adequate and the hot water supply very good. Breakfast was continental with good quantities of fruit juices, yoghurt and fruit as well as bread rolls, croissants and pan au chocolat together with the usual ham and cheese. Dinner at the hotel was excellent and the dining room soon filled with locals as well as tourists (always a good sign). The welcome we received from Roberto and the ongoing service could not be faulted and my fellow travellers and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel

This is the best located hotel in Bergamo as it is on the edge of Piazza Vecchio.

A beautiful traditional Italian hotel with no modern frills but loads of Italian traits.

Fabulous service, great food and bargain prices - what more can you ask for??

Love this hotel and all the people who run it....

A great restaurant with a superb menu that is also in English and Italian so it helps you speak the menu to the waiters.
The ravioli was fantastic and the service was top class as always in this area. A nice little walk from the cable car.

Just stayed one night. Fantastic location on the main square of the old town. Rooms were large and clean although shower and toilet very close to a wall. The host was great and very helpful. Breakfast was continental but fine. Recommended

Perfectly located in the old city and walking distance to all sites. Old charming hotel and restaurant with wonderful and friendly staff. Our room has a beautiful view of the hills. This hotel makes one feel like traveling back in times. The bathroom was a decent size but has a tiny shower stall. The shower was awkwardly angled but had a good supply of hot water. Breakfast is provided at the restaurant and it is fun to watch the locals stopping by for coffee and catching up. The restaurant has very good food and excellent service.
