Our airbnb host recommended this place, and I had actually saved it on here, having read plenty of good reviews. So we went here on our first night in Riomaggiore and made a reservation for an outside table, expecting a great meal. But it was truly bland. Our bread was hard and tasted old, and the "glass" of wine was the same size as a "tasting" glass we'd gotten elsewhere. Most importantly, the food was just "meh" as well, and way too expensive for what we got.
But the service was the worst. Honestly, everyone just seemed annoyed that we were there. The waiters were curt and ignored us long after the courses we ordered were finished, and even when we tried to catch their eye, it seemed like they were trying to avoid us (which, with only a half dozen tables outside, was hard to do).
It would have been fine, as we were happy to be sitting outside enjoying the nice weather (and the sweet cat, who lurked around for scraps). We figured, maybe the servers here are less attentive (or not at all), that's okay. Until an Italian couple showed up and were seated at the table next to us, and it felt like the waiters were over every second - refilling their drinks, giving them more bread, asking loads of questions, etc. It was a clear contrast from how poorly they treated us.
I am not usually someone to leave bad reviews (too much negativity on the internet already), but the combination of everything made me want to warn other tourists not to expect much from this place. Two stars, and the second is just for the view and the cat.
