We just stayed in the Marco Polo suite for 2 nights and it was absolutely fantastic. The views are incredible. Emiliano and his mother are very accommodating. They met us at the top of the town and drove our car through the "special" roads of Riomaggiore. The suite was clean and well worth the money. If you're considering staying in Cinque Terre stay here.

And..don’t consider staying in Cinque Terre, absolutely do it. It's unbelievable!

This was a wonderful place to stay! Breathtaking views from our balcony and very comfortable room. Emiliano and Maristella were the perfect hosts. Maristella met us at the train station and after we were settled in our room, she walked us around Riomaggiore and even made dinner reservations for us ahead of time since we arrived on New Years Eve. She guided us to and around Manarola the next day and I know we saw sights we wouldn't have seen otherwise on our own. She recommended restaurants and places to see. Emiliano was very accommodating when we had to change the dates of our stay only a few weeks before we were supposed to arrive. I highly recommend La Baia di Rio and will stay there again if given the opportunity to return to Italy.

The owners, Emiliano & his mother are lovely, friendly helpful people. All our emails were promptly answered and on arrival in Riomaggiore, Emiliano met us and drove us in our car through the village to the hotel and helped us with our luggage. Emiliano gave us lots of suggestions on things to do and places to eat. The price also included parking.

The view is just AMAZING. The room was very clean with a decent sized balcony overlooking the water and town. There was even a wonderful view from the bathroom window. The room had a fridge although the bed was quite firm.

We would definitely recommend staying here.

We decided to drive to Cinque Terre the day before and La Baia di Rio was one of very few places open after the floods and during this slow time of year (Jan). The hotel is a private residence turned hotel - they all are in Riomaggiore thanks to local zoning laws. If you want a traditional 4 star hotel with a front desk and crew, stay in Monterosso (first city in Cinque Terre). This place is not that. The clean rooms were clean - maybe a bit outdated but comfortable and spacious. The view from the Marco Polo suite was world class as was the large balcony with which to take it in. The price was a great value at $110 euros a night for the Marco Polo suite.

Here's why it gets 5 stars as opposed to the 4 the facilities itself would have warranted. The mother / son tandem that own the place were phenomenal individuals that absolutely take pride in what they do, their hotel, and their village. When we arrived the son ran ahead to the only open restaurant to be sure we had a table and were taken care of. Upon seeing our two families and three small children and learning how long we had in Cinque Terre, she suggested a brilliant itinerary that allowed us to take it all in while avoiding difficult treks with the kids. They even let us borrow their stroller after seeing that our American stroller was too big for the tight alley ways of the neighborhood. She walked us to breakfast, met us at the train, arranged for our dinner. They basically made Cinque Terre a phenomenal experience.

I'm sure the fact that it was the slow season contributed but reading others' reviews, we're clearly not alone in appreciating how they contributed to our trip. I sincerely hope to have the chance to return.

Emilliano and his mother were wounderfull with us and as the same time they let us free to enjoy our stay in Cinque Terre as we wish, it looked like we were in our house but with the most amazing view we have ever seen and a incredible sunset with Italy flavours!!! Just do not have breakfast near the House, buy your own Stuff in the little shops and make sure you get Marco polo suite to drink your coffe looking at the Ocean!
