We stayed for 2 nights and knew the hotel was at the top of the hill. It's a bit of a hike, but that was fine with us. Good exercise. No elevator. Our room was very basic and the mattress was bad-sagged in the middle. Best part about it was the view of Riomaggiore from our balcony. Best views in the area I'm sure. Breakfast was included and they served a nice variety of foods. Very authentic. Nice staff. A bit hectic at check-in. Charming place, pretty dated, and we liked being away from all the hustle bustle of the town. If you want basic, this is your hotel. Not a great value, but the views make it worth staying we thought.

Room tip: There aren't many with balconies, so ask for one. It's worth the extra charge for the views!

My husband and I recently stayed here.
The hotel is atop of a very very steep hill. No joy there as it is a good 20 minute walk from the train station. Too bad we received an email on our return home about the bus service that was available to get there from the train station. For the money we paid we felt very disappointed with the room standard, which felt more like a lousy B&B. Our room was very dated and basic and the bathroom tiny with shower leaking water on the floor everytime we used it. The terrace was not as inviting as it looked in the photos. The staff were not welcoming on our arrival and this set the tone for a very disappointing stay there.

I have just returned from 5 days at this lovely hotel. It’s location on top of the hill is spectacular and the views down through the city and to the sea are stunning. Obviously this presents a challenge with luggage. Catch a taxi or there is an elevator in front of the church that takes you right up to the top of the hill and then the hotel is a short walk along that street. Room was small but comfortable. Tiny shower though and this may be a problem for some. There was some noise transfer between rooms. The breakfasts were lovely with a selection of home made dishes and jams. Highly recommend and the people running the hotel are very friendly.

We stayed for one night.

Pros: Clean. Comfortable bed. TV. Air conditioning. Fan. Balcony with table and chairs. Small but functional bathroom with free standing shower. Bar fridge. Free Wi-Fi very good reception in the room. We were offered a bottle of cold still or gas water on arrival which was very welcome after a long hiking day.

Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was a buffet style with a large variety of foods to satisfy anyone.

Cons: smallish bedroom. No lift. Our room was on the first floor. Hotel situated at the top of a long steep hill above the town. This could also be an advantage as away from the hustle and bustle.

Overall this is an excellent hotel in which to spend a comfortable and pleasant time in Riomaggiore. I would certainly recommend it.

A small group of us stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The cool dark air conditioned rooms were welcome after hot days travelling and exploring the nearby towns. Breakfast was nice / fresh and most of the staff were pleasant. Giulia, Giovanna, Viviana and Andrea were very helpful. Some of the staff were not so welcoming and avoided eye contact appearing harassed and too busy to be bothered with the interruption of a guest asking for assistance or a room key. Maybe they are just over all the tourists, pity. Met some nice fellow guests on the terrace in the evening. No bar to speak of but drinks service on the terrace was available upon request. No lift so go for first floor room. It would have been nice to have been told about the public lift along the road leading to the old town and restaurants - the hill climb at the end of an evening was a challenge in the heat. Free bus to card holders available approx every half hour.

Room tip: No lift - stay on first floor if possible.
