Monterosso was a highlight of our five week trip. A beautiful town in a stunning location with excellent food and local wines. We were instantly relaxed on our arrival and the Hotel Villa Steno was as good as the reviews suggested. Our room had a beautiful view of the town and the sea, the breakfast was superb and hosts Matteo and Carla lovely, friendly and helpful, as was Anna Maria who gave us lots of great advice.

We stayed for two nights in October 2012.
We had a triple room which was fairly small, but it had its own outdoor grassed terrace where you can sit and enjoy the great views.
Breakfasts were great with both hot (scrambled egg) and cold food.
We had a car and it was convenient to be able to park there (additional charge).
Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Hotel Villa Steno was our favorite hotel during our two week stay in Italy. Matteo and his staff were helpful, pleasant and professional. Breakfasts were wonderful. The hotel is clean and full of modern touches. Our separate garden area was lovely and provided a peaceful view of Monterossa and the harbor.

This was our third visit to Villa Steno, the first time in over 5 years and it lived up to our memories. Our room was a triple, with one double bed in one room and a single bed/couch in the entry area. There are tvs in both rooms The rooms are as pictured on their website, small but very comfortable, especially since we could use the terrace as our sitting area and had a small refrigerator to store cheese and drinks.
The staff at this hotel is superb, with a clear goal to make our stay wonderful. Mateo, Carla and Anne Marie were helpful and accommodating, going so far as to give us Mateo's father's recipe for limocella. Breakfast is wonderful, very tasty and with a lot of variety. The location is nice, overlooking much of the town. Driving there is scary for the first timer (and the 3rd timer) but once we parked the car, we did not need to use it again until we left. Wifi was always available and the upper panoramic terrace was a nice spot to share a bottle of wine; the staff very nicely provided an ice bucket and cork screw.
We hope to return to the Villa Steno soon.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October. Prior to our arrival, the owners had e-mailed us with travel advice. They were really helpful - I had lots of questions because it was my first visit to the area. They booked us a taxi to meet us at the station (10 euros) and there was a complimentary drink on arrival. Our room was lovely, spacious, spotlessly clean and with a beautiful view of the sea. The hotel is situated high on a hill overlooking the town but is within easy reach of both old and new town areas, via some steps and a private garden. The hotel is bright, airy and modern, and the facilities ans staff are excellent. We couldn't have felt more welcome. Breakfast is provided and was absolutely fantastic. There was a wide selection of cereals, pastries and cake, fruit, cheeses and meats, bread and rolls, yogurts, juice, tea and coffee etc. etc.! It was always quiet and peaceful in the hotel, as was the whole village generally. We adored the area. There is enough to explore, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants open even at this end of the season. Weather was changeable, mild and sunny mostly but also cloud and rain. This didn't spoil our trip. I want to return definitely!

Room tip: I imagine they are all fine but not all have a view of the sea.
