We stayed at Blackberry Cottage for 5 nights and would love to return one day. It is a truly magical place. The Cottage is not big, but it doesn’t matter as there’s a beautiful terrace garden with plenty of room for eating or relaxing outdoors. Plus being outside gives you one of the best views you’ll ever see in your life. We spent a lot of time just sitting out on the terrace.
We stayed here with our two-and-a-half year old and 8 month old baby. We were initially worried about the kids falling down the steps but it didn’t turn out to be a problem.
The Cottage is a great base for exploring the Cinque Terre and Portovenere. It’s only about a 10 minute drive to the closest Cinque Terre town. We stayed during the week so didn’t have any problems finding parking outside the towns.
This place is perfect for families with a car who want somewhere quiet and relaxing to stay away from the crowds. Thank you Alberto, staying here was one of the highlights of our trip.

The service is perfect. Even if the main room is a little bit short, the house is very pleasant. I strongly recommand this location.

Blackberry Cottage is a beautiful little villa perched on the hills above the Bay of La Spezia. The views from the cottage are stunning, whether it be first thing in the morning, at dusk or at any other time of the day or night.
The cottage itself has a rustic charm. The main living area is adjacent to a small but well-appointed kitchen. From this main room there is access to terraces at the front and back of the house. We had breakfast on the former and lunch on the latter.
There are two double bedrooms, plus two bedrooms on the first floor with bunk beds 'a castello'.The sleeping facilities are comfortable but, I would suggest, for not more than four adults plus two children due to the lack of a second bathroom (although the WC and basin on the first floor help in this respect).
The terraced garden is well maintained and full of many plants and shrubs, To get to the cottage form the parking area it is necessary to walk down steps through the terraces and one has ample opportunity to appreciate the garden - on the way down and on the way back up! At night there is a series of well-placed lights to guide one to and from the parking area.
A car is essential.

We loved our stay at Blackberry Cottage so much. Following Andrea driving up the hill you already could sense that this is a special place and then this amazing view and the beautiful garden with its smell of rosemary. We loved relaxing on the terrace but also took walks from Manarola to Cormiglia, such a scenic trail and our dog loved climbing up the hill. The other walk was from Monterosso to Vernazza. We easily could access the Cinque Terre towns from the cottage, they are so beautiful. For dinner we went to Portovenere or to The Ville Relais, a recommendation from one of the cards of the Pinnwall in the house, a great idea. In the house the owners and guests have left many recommendations for trips and restaurants. For us holidays in Bluebbery Cottage was a little dream and we hope to come back. This is no standard place and you can feel that the owners put their heart into keeping this place in good shape and wanting that guests feel at home. Thank you Alberto and Baba for making your guests feel like coming to stay with friends and for all our friendliness.

We decided to go to Cinque Terre for our Easter break (me, hubby, 11 and 1 year old + another family of 4). I had spoken on the phone with the owner prior to our arrival (he called me at his expense) and we had a lovely chat about the house, what to expect and where to go+what to do in the area (tips on supermarkets, restaurants etc). He was really obliging and nice. Unfortunately it had been raining in the region for the past 3-4 weeks so the weather report wasn't looking good, and we arrived on the Thursday evening under torrential rain. Aside from a few things that went wrong, the house is lovely. It has enough rooms to host two families of four quite comfortably, the kids loved their bunk bed rooms, we enjoyed our stay in ours. However, the living space is rather small if you are forced to stay indoors for dinners due to rain or cold, so I wouldn't recommend renting this place out before it gets sufficiently hot for you to enjoy the wonderful terraces, with a wicked view of the port. Another downside is that there is only one bathtub/shower so eight people really need to take turns in the mornings and evening (if you're coming back from a day outdoors under very heavy rain!). Aside from these two drawbacks, I would recommend the place. The owner is a really nice guy and you can be sure that you will be treated with respect and cordiality that one expects when in Italy (but is often let down otherwise).
