Stayed for two nights in September. it's not a bad place, but rooms are small and basic - more of a two star hotel with four star prices. We stayed in the double on the top floor, supposedly their best room: small and stuffy. The air condition was switched off for the season; upon our complaint (the party noise from the small street below made it impossible to open the windows at night), the aircon was switched on by friendly staff, but made more noise than difference in temperature. personal comment: when we had to leave a day early due to a family issue, the greedy owner insisted on imposing a one night penalty, using a particularly idiotic argument, namely that his (own) website didn't allow him any flexibility on conditions. so, if you prefer genuine hospitality to profit maximization, take your business elsewhere, otherwise it's an OK place to overnight. 

Because of our broken car we had to extend our stay in town. Following our basic instincts we ended up here, in the most cheerful hostel I ever visited. Our small room is just suited with every possible expectations (spotlessly clean, fine design, historical center, etc., almost forgot: great breakfast), but the most suggestive and delightful element is the staff itself! Calmly helpful, full of heart - and a very, very fine sense of humor. Home is at home, but sometimes it can also be the James Joyce Hotel - thank you!

Everything about our stay here was perfect. We received a warm, friendly greeting with advice about places to visit. Our room was quiet, modern and stylish, the bathroom a good size and spotlessly clean. It's located about two or three minutes walk from the main piazza in Trieste, so you can walk everywhere. The staff were all welcoming and polite. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, it's almost worth going to Trieste just to stay here!
