We stayed in the annex part of the Hotel Duchi d'Aosta and it was perfect for what we needed. It is located very close to the waterfront and the beautiful Piazza Unita d'Italia. From here, you can walk to local attractions, the many bars and restaurants nearby, and can easily get a bus up the coast, or a ferry over to Muggia.
The room itself was great. A very comfortable firm bed, and a space to hang clothes. We also had a sofa to relax on, and could see the sea from our window, which was lovely.
The bathroom was well appointed (though the fixed showerhead was a little too low for my 6 foot 2 partner). I really liked the storage drawer, as we could unpack all of our toiletries into it, but they didn't take up all the surfaces in the room (like most other hotels).
Breakfast was pretty good (served in Harry's Bistro) in the main hotel. The breakfast staff were chirpy and welcoming and there was a wide range of food on offer.
