Hotel Villa Augustea

I stayed 6 night at the Villa Augustea with my two daughters this August. The hotel has been fully renovated in spring, so everything is in top condition. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary, especially all the cakes. The pool and pool bar was nice and gave us that extra holiday feeling. The hotel being located right on the beach gives you nice options to choose.
The best about this hotel is the staff; from the first greeting, all the great restaurant recommendations, the friendliness of everyone from the big boss to the cleaning ladies, it made us feel at home. Special thanks to Sonja, whose smile made every day a happy day. :-)

I booked this hotel as it was recommended by a friend that had recently walked passed it. Thank god he did, really really nice hotel. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay there again. By the way, Rimini is a lovely location for all ages.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms available

This hotel needs to be renovated. That said, and I realize others have pointed this out as well, it's a fair price for what you get in this part of Rimini. We had a room and terrace overlooking the parking lot & pool. The size was small for 4 people (a queen-sized bed and bunk beds)... but we knew that when we booked, so no surprise. We were only there two nights. The ceiling height surprised us; the room seemed as high as it was wide! Mattresses were not comfortable. At least there was no noise at night on the beach side of the building. Breakfast was fine and the staff helpful and generally cheerful. They didn't mind that we used the parking lot after we'd checked out.

The beach culture in this part of Rimini is something quite like we've never experienced: very regulated. For many (the vast majority Italian) guests, the incredible beach infrastructure with programs is what they come for year after year. If that's your thing, you'll probably like it here.

We stayed at this hotel just before the Ferragosto weekend 2016. We spent 4 nights and we were quite satisfied with the experience. The hotel is a bit dated (the renovations will start in October) but the view from the terrace outside our room was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised to be assigned a room on the top floor with an ocean view. We were doubly blessed when we were told that some rooms on the lower floors had tiny bathrooms (a common bathroom was made available to guests on the first and second floors). While our room was tiny (with a double bed, there wasn't enough room to move around it comfortably), we did have a decent bathroom even though it had no air circulation (no window and only a tiny vent that seemed to go nowhere). We had air conditioning that worked which was a blessing considering the only window was the french door which gave access to the room.
Many of the the negative things that I might say are connected with structural things (smell of mold, no air circulation, old fittings etc.)
One negative thing that can't be changed with a renovation is the attitude of some of the staff. The wait staff in the breakfast room and at the aperitif consisted in one man and one woman. The man was cordial and welcoming (he seemed to be a polyglot and able to converse with the numerous foreign guests in their languages) while the woman was morose and seemed put out that she had to work. We only got a kind word and smile from her as we were taking our bags out to the car at the end of the stay. Another staffer with a bad attitude...pregnant woman at reception.
We had some difficulty with the air conditioner and when we went to reception as directed by the instructions in the room, she was very condescending in telling us to flip the on switch (which we had already done) and she spoke to us as if we were idiots. Message to Alessandro: magari un corso in ospitalità per le due donne?

Room Tip: The rooms on the third floor have a large terrace and fantastic view of the ocean and pool.
