We spent 3 days in Rimini at the Frida Hotel and I need to emphasize a few things.
On a positive note, the staff are very nice and friendly, don't speak much English but still you'll manage to communicate. When on holiday, we had serious problems with getting out of Venice (which was the first part of our round trip) as Trenitalia was on strike on our departure day and all trains were cancelled. Our Internet connection was limited so the only email we sent was a request to wait for us till 2.00 as there was no way we could be in Rimini earlier. In 15 mins we got a reply that there will be no problem and they will be open and wait for us.
Secondly, we booked a room on www.booking.com and a credit card is required for the pre-authorization reasons. I don't have one, I only have a debit card which isn’t sufficient as you cannot held money on it. I called the Frida Hotel in advance to clarify the issue. Wasn't able to resolve the query on the phone as their level of English was basic. However, they advised to explain the problem via email which I did.
I was offered to transfer 75EUR to their bank account as a cancellation fee which they calculated and my reservation was then secured. No problems on arrival whatsoever. They had all the info in their system and 75EUR was deducted from a final balance.

On a negative note, our room was small (I booked a triple room and expected something slightly bigger).
The bathroom was quite problematic and not in its best conditions. There was no shower frame. The entire bathroom was one space and once you had a shower, the bathroom was completely flooded. Not to nice for another person when they were about to use it.
The most surprising part of our stay at the Frida was the fact the there was a surcharge for air con!!! Once you enter the room there’s no remote control to air con and you need to go downstairs to the reception and ask for it. The guy at the reception said that it's additional 5EUR/day (www.booking.com did not mention any surcharges). The air con will not switch on until you close the window as there was some sensor installed in a window fame.
As for me it's quite an unusual practise to charge customers for air con in a Mediterranean country!
