travelling across europe by car from calais to ancona italy with sergei rachmaninoff our small puppy dog. used ibis hotels in uk and france for dog friendly but at the advice of friends who had made similar journey from uk to ferry in ancona we booked 2 nights in hotel stresa rimi. this was probably the best piece of travel advice i have ever been given. after 2 days driving across europe we wanted a break to clear our heads before driving to ancoa for ferry to greece. at reception we were greeted by gabrielle who was the perfect host who managed to answer most of our tourist questions before we had even asked .our double dog friendly room was clean to perfection.. with a small balcony to take the evening air.car parking canbe a problem in large cities but not here, for 5 euros per night we were give a voucher to access a 24 hour guarded car park only round the corner with friendly helpful guys at the gate.after a perfect sleep in a most comfortable bed i tried the breakfast room knowing that sergei dog could not (quite rightly) go in there. the sign said food should not be removed from dining area but on explainng to most friendly service lady about dog she helped me prepare a tray of food for myself kate and sergei. breakfast is self service buffet style but i have never seen...More
