Review of Piron El Furnar

Piron El Furnar
Ranked #1,124 of 2,110 Restaurants in Bologna
Price range: US$1 - US$28
Description: To find out a little 'history of Bologna just make a pass at Piron oven via Nosadella, presumed heir of the antihero protagonist of a popular folk song petroniana who narrates the exploits. Piron is a character, a real caricature, created by the inventiveness of the late nineteenth century Carlo Musi, which tells in the song the story of this riotous baker. Since 1967, the management of Luciano Bai and now the daughter Angela is always attentive and involved with current events with themed displays; during the national feast of the bread baker's creativity goes even out of the shop and across the porch is set up with fanciful sculptures of bread and cakes. Simply take a look in the window and the chocolate department to be encouraged to bring home a taste of tradition. We have news of the bakery since 1883. Today the store is credited as Bottega Storica of the Province of Bologna.

Perfectly bright and well maintained but decade old family owned bakery. Competent, friendly service, great choice of salty and sweet (and of course bread...). Yes more expensive than the average industrial-style bakery but that's because quality is high. Recommended.

I don't know the usual prices to comprar if it was expensive or not... it might be, but on vacation you allow yourself of a little bit more. We haven't eat any sandwiches, but we bought the most soft Focaccia we ever ate, there's also some pastries (hardly tried the most, but what I've tried I recommend). Eat one of those hearts puffy things, there's a soft milky cream inside... to die for and the perfect size.
We bought some gnocchi to cook (can't say as this is being delayed as we keep eating out)... the spinach and ricotta little thing is also amazing.
The cookies seems to be delicious, but here I did find the bags for sale very expensive, so none was asked.
You don't walk all your way to come here, that's not my recommendation, but if you're near by, it's definitely worth a visit.
Enjoy.
