A nice enough station. We took the train to Florence which worked well. Easy to get around and not too busy.

It was our second visit to Bologna train station. This time we took day trips to Parma and Loreto. Very efficient at the Trenitalia office and could speak fluent English. A suggestion to Trenitalia company - an employee left to mingle with the people in transit would help to solve any doubts in people's minds, especially tourists like us.

We took day trips form here to Ravenna, Florence and Venice. We bought our tickets from the Trenitalia ticket office and the staff were excellent and very helpful. We don't speak much Italian but this was not a problem. The station is clean and well maintained with lots of staff around if you need help. It has a large number of platforms and some of the superfast trains leave from their own underground platforms so if travelling on them make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the platform. There are toilets at the station, down the stairs, and these are very clean and cost 1 euro.

I have used this station several times now for day trips. It is much larger than it looks from the street. I have not had much difficulty finding my out going train but on the return, I have found it confusing to find my way out of the station.
