This grand lady of a hotel is sited right where you want to be in Bologna. The dear bellmany helped us navigate into the maze of the one way streets to reach the hotel and then took and safely parked out car. Quite a blessing. The hotel is a throw back to the grand days of luxury travel and top service. Wonderful bed, bath, service. Worth the price.

The Grand Majestic is stunning. Beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean and amazing service. The trip was to celebrate my partners 60th Birthday which is on the day of our departure (tomorrow), so we have been here three days prior to this. As it was so quiet in this weird world we currently live in, we were upgraded to a beautiful room with a terrace. Everything was perfect with the room.
On our second evening, unfortunately there were major thunderstorms so we decided to stay in and have a cocktail and snack in the bar. The service was exceptional.
However the Nicoise Salad arrived and unfortunately the tuna was way past its best. It was dry and grey, tasting only of salt. When raising it with the barman he was excellent and came with fresh tuna from the kitchen, saying that ‘this was what it was supposed to be like’. He was right, but I don’t know what possessed the chef to serve old tuna that was way past its best in a hotel of this quality. The meal for a salad and a burger, two cocktails, a beer and a glass of wine was €99 so not a small price to pay, even at hotel prices. But this will sadly be one of the lasting memories of a beautiful hotel, superbly located right in the heart of Bologna.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the preference given to Grand Hotel Majestic "già Baglioni" during your last stay in Bologna and for choosing us to celebrate such a happy event.

We truly appreciate your comments regarding your stay. We are glad you enjoyed our central location, your room with private terrace and our service.

A special thanks for having noted and wrote about our cleanliness, this also gives me the chance to say that recently, in recognition of our efforts to preserve a safe and clean environment, the Grand Hotel Majestic "già Baglioni" achieved the GBAC STAR certificate which assures a biorisk free property.

Regarding the inconvenient of the tuna, please accept my personal apologies as providing excellent ingredients is one of our top priority. Please only allow me to explain that the first tuna served, was actually not past, but only a different selection and part of a whole tuna and I can understand perfectly it might look and taste different or strange. However I am sorry the first Nicoise Salad didn't meet your expectation, but I'm glad to read that our Barman performed an exceptional service.

As a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel continuously strives to meet our valued Guests’ expectations.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope that this minor issue didn't spoil your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you once again.

Sincerly,

Dining at the oldest and most prestigious hotel in Bologna, The Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni, situated right on the high street, Via dell’Indipendenza, was a truly amazing experience. The lobby is very stylishly decorated and the restaurant was breathtaking, what with the antique and palatial ambiance as well as the Renaissance murals on the ceiling depicting the four seasons of the year. This is also very reminiscent of a Michelangelo painting. One could imagine being hosted in the opulent dining-room of some royals. The service was very friendly, unobstrusive and attentive. The different dishes we had were very tastily prepared and the accompanying wines were very well selected too. Yet another evidence of Bologna well deserving the title as the Queen of ltalian food. Bologna - for the Italians la “Città grassa “- the “fat city”. Bologna, the heart of the Emiglia Romagna, certainly has more to offer than Tortellini and Pasta Bolognese.

Apart from being top in every type of luxury and having a great restaurant “I Carracci”, this hotel has a real “Strada Romana” preserved on the ground floor dating to 1-2 AC.
