We visited here on our last night in Rome and had to book through our hotel as the night before they'd been busy. When we arrived we realised that this is because the restaurant itself is small, and very popular among locals.
Although we arrived half an hour early, they were more than happy to seat us, and bought prosseco and fresh homemade tomato bread to keep us going until they could take our order. The menu was wonderful, very unique and different to other restaurants we had visited which made us realise we had probably been eating at very tourist-centric sites before! Everything was cooked fresh by the couple who owned the restaurant, and their son who waited on us was very happy to reccommend dishes and chat in between serving the other customers.
We shared an antipasto platter as a starter (they very kindly replaced the meats with more cheese and vegetables as I'm vegetarian) and it was incredible - fresh mozzerella, baked tomatoes, wilted spinach with the chef's homemade orange jam. This was followed with a porcini pizza and breaded steak with bluberry yoghurt and mango - both absolutely fantastic.
I wish we could have tried the dessert, which i'm sure would have been fantastic but by that time we were feeling very full and ready for the bill, which arrived with complimentary homemade lemoncello.
All in all it was a brilliant visit - if you want good, authentic Italian food cooked to perfection, in a relaxed environment, this is the place for you. I only wish we'd found this restaurant on our first night, as I wanted to try everything on the menu!
