The subway system in Rome isn't quite as clean and efficient as say Germany, but it is a great way to get around and fairly easy to navigate. If you will be there for more than a day, get a pass for the amount of time you will be in town to save money. Keep in mind that once you get a ticket (the ticket machines are in the stations - some will only take cash while others will take credit cards too) it has a time stamp on it so the time starts from when you buy the ticket, not from when you first use it. Also, the direction is indicated by the last stop on the line so it's good to know what that is even if you're only going for a few stops.More
