Huge huge thanks to Zoe for an absolutely wonderful stay. 6 of us (and a baby) stayed for a week for my 30th Birthday and it was truly spectacular. The villa itself was spacious and the outside area was stunning- views of the surrounding countryside, candlelit BBQ dinners under the canopy, beautiful sunsets. Zoe was so so helpful and recommended many nearby places to eat and visit, all of which were brilliant- the food at Il Buccaro was delicious and the staff were all very friendly. Civitia di Bagneregio and Marmore waterfalls were two day trips (both about one hour away) which I would highly recommend to anyone who stays who has a car. Would definitely come back to this area and would certainly want to stay at the villa again. Thanks for everything Zoe! Carly
The two main bedrooms open onto their own private terraces, each with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the gardens below. The kids had their own bathroom which was really useful and the large bathroom off the main bedroom was modern and luxurious. Downstairs on the ground floor the open plan lounge and kitchen are modern and homely; opening onto luscious, colourful gardens and pool. There is plenty of space for communal eating and socialising whilst still providing lots of individual areas for relaxing in the garden or taking some ‘alone time’ to read or snooze on the private balconies. It was a pleasure to have a coffee and pastry each morning sat on the sofa on the terrace taking in the views and enjoying the peace and quiet. In fact, it was tempting to stay in this lovely villa and not venture out at all!
Sutri is a quaint and pretty town with an amphitheatre and amazing ancient church built into the rock which is worth seeing. We tended to visit Trevignano on the side of Lake Bracciano especially on an evening with its lovely lakeside restaurants and bars. It has a friendly, lively atmosphere and is great for families. Would recommend the cakes and pastries with a coffee at Emmet’s café in the main square. We also visited Cascada del Mamore, amazing waterfalls that were a bit of a drive but well worth it. Rome is easy to reach; about a 30 minute drive to train station, Saxa Rubra, then we travelled by train into the centre.
The villa owner, Zoe, was a fantastic ‘host’. She was very helpful before and during our stay and her knowledge of the area is superb. She gives great tips of the best places to visit, eat and drink. We would highly recommend this villa.
