Stayed 19 nights
The Hotel Stendhal is clean, modern, well maintained , well staffed and in an ideal location.

The staff treated us with respect and our lack of Italian was never a problem. Breakfast was a continental buffet with sufficient variety to keep it interesting.

Our room 2nd floor room faced the street . The room had shudders and heavy drapery that deadened the street noise. The mattress was firm and comfortable. I had requested an extra pillow when I booked the room and one was waiting in the room when we arrived.
There were sufficient electric plugs, conveniently located.

In 19 days, we were always able to get a table for breakfast. The WIFI was strong and consistent. Our room was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and polite.

Metro and bus are very close and cheap (€1.50 per ticket)
All major Rome attractions are within walking distance of the Stendhal. We took the Metro to the Vatican but enjoyed the walk back. Rome is blessed with safe streets and lots of Police to keep it that way.

We have stayed over 300 nights in European hotels in the past 10 years. This is an excellent hotel to stay in when you visit Rome.

I would highly recommend this establishment. The entire staff was beyond excellent. This was my 4th trip to Italy and I am not easily pleased, but I would never stay anywhere else in Rome. It is also in walking distance of many tourist sites and very reasonable priced. The best part was the evening attendant in the lobby, Valerio, who greeted us warmly and was a fountain of information. He also makes a great Manhattan!! Everyone spoke English, which is helpful. The food was abundant and delicious. I can't say more. Looking forward to my return.

Our stay at the Stendhal hotel was great. We picked the "luxury" rooms. It was small but that is a theme in Europe. You either get a big room w/ a small bathroom or vice versa. The bathroom was a great size and the amenities were excellent.

Housekeeping were swift but tidy. Breakfast was good. No hot "American" eggs. No pork substitute but yogurt, coffee and fresh fruit. The pastry was plentiful.

The hotel is located in the best area across from the metro and less than a 10 minute walk from the fountain and spanish steps.

I would recommend this hotel.

Over the top hospitality from beginning to end. They were accommodating with our last-minute request to stay three nights there after another place didn’t work out for us. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. While this place is located on the so called “busiest street”in Rome where you will want to go for shopping and a fun night life, you could close your window and have complete silence and wouldn’t even know it was there. Plus, the entire street (buses and all) shuts down at the same time at night and opens back up the same time every morning so it’s no problem getting a solid night’s rest either way. There was a bellman there to immediately help us with our luggage out of our taxi and they were able to arrange an affordable private car to take us back to the airport at the end of our stay. It is close to the subway stops and a “hop on hop off” bus location. Nice breakfast spread included. Took about five minutes to get to the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps. Easy access to everything you’ll want to see in Rome.
