This hotel has been purchased by Trevi Collection around the corner. The Hotel Suisse rooms are much older looking than the Trevi Collection rooms so they are considered the "economy" rooms. I was there during remodeling and experienced a great deal of construction noise, foot traffic and dust. I had a number of issues with the room, however they were quickly resolved by very polite, patient and competent Nicolas. I only received 4 TV stations; however I was told the construction work caused the difficulties. I could have paid $40 more per night to stay on the Trevi side and receive more channels. Many of the reception staff were rude and surly. There was no information provided in the room concerning the phone, TV, or breakfast hours. Buffet breakfast was plentiful with a wide variety. Tea and coffee needed to be purchased from the bar downstairs as kettles were not provided nor allowed in the rooms. My overall rating is 2 because some of the staff were very kind and courteous. Many were not. It is within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps with the metro stop. The Trevi Collection hotel was adequate (and overpriced)! However I preferred the personal touch of the old Hotel Suisse.

We stayed at one of our formerly favorite global hotels (now purchased by Hotel Trevi Collectionand being gutted and redone) for one night before our cruise. We accidentally dropped a makeup bottle on the glass-topped table, and the glass shattered. We cleaned up and brought it to the attention of the front desk at checkout the next morning. The front desk extorted $100EUROS for the glass table top in addition to our room fee, saying they would need to purchase a whole new table (never mind they were gutting and refurnishing these old rooms). Our extended family has been staying at this hotel for 20+ years but NEVER WILL AGAIN. it lost its lovely and REASONABLE owner, its old world charm and a caring and honest front desk team -sad, sad, sad!!

The room was very small, the bed was hard and the bathroom was tiny. The shower was miniscule, and the shower door was broken. Don't drop you soap, you can't bend over to pick it up. You have to put your room key in an outlet in the wall to turn on electricity in your room.
The pluses, a nice breakfast upstairs, and a quick walk to Trevi Fountain and and Spanish Steps. The staff was very friendly, and made great dinner and lunch recommendations.

If this is your first visit to this hotel you will find a hotel that is well located, but average in every other way. The atmosphere and design is, as one Italian reviewer noted, banal international. To get reliable internet access you might need to sit near the door in the entrance to your room, as I did. Breakfast is dull and the plates and cutlery are often not properly cleaned, etc etc. If you knew the old Hotel Suisse, an elegant family-run hotel that people returned to over and over again, you will just feel sad.

The hotel is located in an old building just 100 metres from the Spanish Steps. It is quite difficult to find the hotel at first, as there is just a small sign and you have to ring a bell. Staff was very friendly and check-in was quick. The hotel is more like a big old-fashioned flat. The furniture is definitely ancient but very well kept. Everything has the charm of a time long gone. The room itself was good sized, although not that big and had a window opening to the courtyard. The walls are thin, so we could hear a bit of noise from the neighbours, but not too much. Everything was clean and well kept, although not luxurious, but definitely good value. Breakfast was not that good, but ok. All in all considering the price this is a great option if you stay in Rome.
