My husband and I stayed with our 13 year old son - on a first trip to Rome. We had a triple room with balcony , room safe and ensuite. The room was modern, very well done and had thoughtful extras eg kettle. The staff were excellent - helpful and very friendly. But the best was the breakfasts - superb .location fantastic too - minutes from Trevi fountain and old Rome. In short we will stay again every time .

Location was key to this hotel. The first night we found the Trevi Fountain directly behind the hotel. The Pantheon was a 5 minute walk, the Vatican was a 20 minute easy walk and the same for the Colosseum. The Spanish Steps were 5 minutes walk. We never needed a taxi... plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Regarding the Hotel, while the rooms were small they were adequate for the 4 nights we had in Rome. The reception was interesting and a little pokey with a tiny lift (max weight 225kg) and not suitable for a wheelchair. We were all on the 4th floor. Our room looked out onto the main st but not too noisy. Window had shutters as well. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice including hot meals.

Room Tip: Be aware that many restaurants are closed Sundays as well as the Vatican and any other religious site... although the Pantheon was open

Hotel Tritone has a lot going for it: great location and very friendly, accommodating people on the staff. My two critiques are the smallish rooms (do not stay in room 210, a genuine shoebox) by US standards and spotty wi-fi. Breakfast was included in our rate and was completely adequate. This is a downtown hotel with the expected urban views and city noises...not a problem if you know what to expect.

Room Tip: Rooms are smallish by US standards, avoid room 210 unless the alternative is sleeping on the street.

I have recently returned from a 4 day break at this hotel. The hotel is very centrally located, only a 2 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain and 10 - 15 minutes walk from the Pantheon and Spanish Steps. There is an abundance of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. We loved its location. The breakfast is served in a roof top conservatory in the morning. They had a selection of cereals, cold meats and cheeses, pastries, fruit, scrambled egg, bacon and sausages every morning. Something to please everyone. The staff were all very pleasant and the reception staff very helpful, chatty and happy to help with any questions or phone for taxis for you. our room was on the 5th floor and we also had an outside terrace. The rooms were very clean and there was adequate room. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis and fresh towels provided. A safe is provided in the wardrobe as standard and free of charge. The beds were comfortable. For us the only negative was the outside traffic noise. We are personally not used to this at night and it didn't give us a great nights sleep. This was in not in any way the hotels fault but the price to be paid for a central location. Perhaps if we had a room at the back of the hotel it would perhaps not have been a problem for us but we would have then sacrificed the outside terrace. Great wee hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear would be quieter

I stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Tritone. It was very expensive (on the dates I went) for what it is. The rooms are dated but clean and same with the bathrooms. The best part of the hotel is that it is walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and other attractions. I had a room at the front of the hotel on the first floor and it was quite noisy. The selling point is the position of this hotel. However next time I would stay out at Trastevere as I want a more Italian experience and less touristy. But for first timers this will do just fine.
