Owner description: Perhaps the best-preserved of the monuments of ancient Rome, this huge marble structure was built to hold more than 50,000 spectators to witness bloody contests of might and the slaughter of wild beasts.

It is good that it still partially preserved. I but I don’t think it deserves coming into the wonders of the world and comparable Taj Mahal and Pyramids of the Egypt.

A must see in Rome, but, of course, very crowded. I would recommend a visit with a guide which includes the Roman forum and other historical sights

We booked a tour with the CoopCulture official site for a fixed time. Arriving 45mins early to find horrendous queues, we were told by several Coopculture officials to join the 'reservation' line, which was the longest of 3 queues (the other 2 queues being for some other tickets and 'buy today'). We stood in the line for 2 hours. It was very badly organised with a family pushing in behind when we got close to the sectioned areas. The queue for 'buy today' was very short, and in hindsight we should have just joined that queue and gone in. Because unbelievably all 3 lines lead to the same place - a security check ! No one ever asks you about which ticket you have until you are inside with everyone else. So we missed our tour, there was no other tour of the Belvedere for 3 hours (we weren't going to queue again!) and were given an audio guide inside (which incidentally was very poor quality phone, compared to the audio guide of the Vatican). It spoilt our day.

Awesome and very atmospheric. Must get there early to avoid the crowds. Can obtain double tickets which allows entry to Colosseum and the Forum.

What an incredible place to visit! The enormity of the building, once inside, is even more amazing than the outside. Try to revisit in the evening too when the outside is lit up. Just wonderful!
We booked a guide for this and well worth it! Our tour guide Giorgio was wonderful! Hearing the passion and knowledge (from an ex history teacher and archaeologist) made it a great experience.
I know others might not be so lucky but a guide should be able to explain more about what you’re seeing.
