Loved this area. Its full of quirky colourful buildings with plenty of restaurants and cafe/bars. Sit on the busy steps and people watch by the fountain and soak up the atmosphere. Stroll along the river where there is bar after bar on the edge of the river. Well worth a visit to this lovely area.

We were in Rome for 5 nights and every nights and every night we had dinner somewhere new every night. The popular places have people lining up but there are some hidden gems if you move away from the central area. I have attached a photo of the best gelati place in Rome found in Trastevere called Fonte Della Salute.

If only more of Rome was this authentic - the small restaurants and bars with honest chefs charging reasonable prices for awesome food - we loved it, we just wish we had had more time to spend there!

Next time we're in Rome our hotel will be here without question!

Forget all the tourist restaurants in the center of Rome with their waiters trying to entice you into their restaurants. Ask where their chefs are from! Egypt or Libya is sometimes the reply from a concerned Roman who happens to overhear the inquiry. In Trastevere people queue to enter restaurants because Mamas old recipes and time tested cooking is still in use through the well seasoned and experienced staff and chefs.

We had a great time in Trastevere. The place is beautiful, with many restaurants and tiny interesting bars.
