Was looking around on Maps to see what was in the vicinity of our apartment, and my eye was caught by this "Taco Kitchen." A taco joint in Rome? Looked it up on a whim, thinking it was highly unlikely that these were going to be anything approaching decent tacos, especially ones that can hold up to the expectations of southern Californians. But after reading both the TripAdvisor and Yelp reviews, we felt we had to give it a try, and we're so glad we did. Run by a sole proprietor with one assistant, each taco is made to order, and with true Mexican flavor, as the owner is originally from Guadalajara. What possessed this guy to open a tiny taqueria in Rome of all places, I'll never know, but it is to our gain, my friends. The tacos al pastor were my favorite, and the freshly-made chips with guac were also excellent. Only about enough seating for 12 or so, so plan to get there when they open in case you land on a night that draws a crowd. We're here on a six-week trip, and this was such a great surprise find, and an essential break from the standard pasta/pizza fare. Highly recommended.

Dear SAillustrator,
First and foremost, thank you so much for your lovely review which brought a smile to our faces.
Our greatest pleasure is to know that our guests had a great (albeit unexpected☺) experience!
Having wondered what possessed the owner to open a taqueria in Rome, I am quite happy to disclose the following information: the Mexican owner, has an Italian wife (me) .....Hope you have a fantastic stay in Italy,
Cheers,
Margherita

We needed a break from pasta and this was perfect. The tacos and guacamole were delicious. The staff was really nice and it was easy to go to. No service fee and reasonably priced water. It was a breath of fresh air. We loved it.

I'd read about this place on another site and saw how highly rated it was. It's tacos, in Rome! Being from Texas we are used to great Tex-Mex and Tepic did not disappoint. We had fish tacos and tacos al pastor. They make everything fresh right then, even the corn tortillas. The guacamole is some of the best I've had. Tip: If you want chips they call them nachos. Order the hot sauce. It's homemade and delicious. Wish we could take some home with us. Tip: they are closed on Tuesdays and open for lunch at 12:30. I'd get there right when they open.
