When visiting the Vatican City we weren't going to use a tour company, but we got chatting to one of When In Rome's reps and he said that Luigi was one of their best and to just listen to him for a bit before the tour was to set off and then decide whether we wanted to or not. After listening for a few mins we decided to take the tour rather than just wandering about by ourselves. The Vatican is immense and so full of beautiful sights and histoy that it's worth being shown around by someone who knows the history and the most important sights as really you could spend days wandering about looking at everything! Even in February it's quite busy and the guided tours get you a queue jump that can be invaluable. Luigi was excellent! He was passionate and enthusiastic and certainly knew his onions! Most tours are about 2hrs but Luigi's was nearly 4! You definitely need a pair of comfortable shoes and a camera, although there are areas where you can't use them (like the Cistine Chapel) and most importantly remember that it is a sacred place of worship so in St.Peter's Basillica men must remove any head wear and you have to try to be as quiet as you can.
The tour cost €40 per person and a €10 deposit for the headset which was returned at the end of the tour. I would highly recommend the tour and especially Luigi...it was well worth the money!!!
