Had visited Sorrento last year and returned to attend a family wedding in August. Was looking for somewhere with a pool where we could relax with our 2 kids and their partners. Casa Amalfi was just what we were looking for! Casa Amalfi is one of 6 apartments/villas set in lovely grounds with a good sized pool. Casa Amalfi is attached to the owners house with another apartment above which is accessed by stairs at the back of the building. Our apartment was accessed through a sun room which was a bit strange and although we didn't use the sunroom it did give us extra room to dry towels etc. I had really been looking for a 3 bedroomed villa but they were either outside Sorrento or too expensive therefore as there were 6 of us we slept in the sofa bed in the kitchen/living area. Must admit we thought this might be a problem but it was really comfortable and with one shower room not being on suite we had no problem accessing the toilet etc. Air conditioning and shutters in the bedrooms and kitchen meant that we were nice and cool inside. Apartment is as shown in pictures - very plain, typical Italian style. Bathrooms were nice and clean and there is ample storage in bedrooms. Cooker doesn't have a grill but there are plenty cooking utensils and kitchenware. Ample sockets and to my wife's delight they were next to large mirrors which is not often the case in hotels. Nice exclusive seating area outside the apartment to eat al fresco. The pool area is really nice and we were lucky to have it to ourselves quite often. Even when the other guests or Ginos family were there it was never too busy or crowded. Gino was very helpful organising a taxi to the wedding for us. We also enjoyed his pizza night where we paid €15 for a lovely meal in the covered area beside the pool. Gino had a chiller with beer etc that we could buy from or we could take our own drinks with us. Another 8 of the wedding party who were staying in a hotel joined us for the pizza evening and really enjoyed it too. You can order Vietnamese food that Ginos wife will cook for you but we ate out in Sorrento and met up with the rest of our family in the evenings. The apartment is a easy downhill walk to the centre of Sorrento and there are 3 grocer shops that sell all you need just at the bottom of the street. Our stay was very relaxing and we would recommend Casa Amalfi as a place to stay if you are looking for central located, reasonably priced accommodation with a swimming pool in Sorrento.
