Had read reviews of this restaurant and gone past in the day. They don’t take reservations so we turned up about 8. We were told we could have a table but they wanted to close early- it was Easter Monday. We ordered the antipasto to share as a starter which promised a selection of ham, sausage and bacon, as well as aubergines, sun dried tomatoes and olives. This came out immediately so must have been pre prepared. There was no bacon and one olive, and 2 bits of sausage. The mains came out while we were still eating our starter. It was lovely fish. The bill came before we’d finished our main and was our most expensive meal. I can not fault the fish and I know they wanted to finish early but I left feeling disappointed.

This restaurant most definitely specialises in seafood. Knowing we would be having a seafood main, we started with cold meats and cheeses. This was very good but not a patch on the same dish a Catatchina de Poppolo (spelling?!) the night before. The main of mixed fried seafood however was outstanding as was the grilled calamari especially washed down with a carafe of house white. It is a very large portion so no need to order chips etc to accompany it. An Aubergine side dish was perfect. If you want to eat here for lunch arrive early or be prepared to queue. Plenty of tables in the evening (in April!)

We were recommended to go to the Trattoria da Emilia by our taxi driver, Rafaele Monetti, and it was excellent in every way. It was some of the best seafood I have ever had. I just asked for their “best thing” and I sure got it.

We ordered house red, tomato mussels and a mixed grill seafood. Absolutely fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked. How good was it? We ordered the lemon mussels and they were terrific, so we had the mixed fried seafood. It was all terrific. And the had the best bread I have had in Italy.

Service was exceptional. Simple place close to one of the best restaurants in Sorrento, but doubt the food is any better.

Prices were very reasonable.
