Almafra Camping & Bungalows

We stopped in a private let chalet so this review is for the site. Nice and clean. Used the shower block instead of the chalet shower as these were nice and clean and was quicker with 5 people to get showered. Pool was nice and clean. Not many sunbeds but nice grassed area under the trees to find some shade if you want. Agree with other reviews, lifeguard was more concerned with socialising than guarding the pool. shop fine, not very expensive and supermarkets in Albir just 5 mins drive away. Reception staff excellent. English staff in many parts of the site, shop etc. Bus stop just 2 mins from entrance and tram at bottom of road - beware though, tram stops at the top of old town if you are going to Benni

Just visited Camping Almafra with my wife, fell in love with the place.
Location is fantastic, bus just outside camp to Benidorm centre or just 10 Euro in a taxi
Restaurant and bar on site serving good food and drinks at reasonable prices, also a small shop
Indoor and outdoor pool, was never to full but if you want a sun bed you need to go early, no big deal as area is grassed anyway
Clean grounds and high level of house keeping
Staff are very friendly and helpful
We liked it so much we bought a Casa

Nice enough site, but a shame they do t have the outdoor pool open when it's so hot in October and November. The meals. The restaurant are acceptable. A short walk to bus stop for travel to Benidorm. Tram stop outside of the main gate.

This review is for the campsite rather than the accommodation. Overall, I enjoyed the site, the pool looks a little odd at first with red tiles but it is clean and tidy with some sun beds. The opening times of the pool was a little confusing as a sign said it opened at 10:30 but people were seen swimming much before then. The lifeguard(s) was entirely useless unfortunately. English guests were asked to remove inflatables, Spanish guests were allowed the use of inflatables and also to take over the whole pool playing games with 15+ family members. One of the lifeguards (not sure if they were different people) seemed to have his girlfriend with him all week who would not leave his side and therefore distracted him. We witnessed a 4 year old boy jump into the pool forgetting he was not wearing arm bands and panicked, struggling to keep his head above water and screaming. His mother quickly realised but the lifeguard did not have a clue! We ate in the restaurant/bar most days and food was cheap and pleasant and arrived very quickly with staff being happy to help. There is a small on-site shop which was also affordable and very useful. I did not use the shower blocks myself but my friends often did and said they were nice and warm with showers having their own separate changing cubicle attached. The team at reception were exceptional, they are English speaking and were very helpful at all times. The site was clean and tidy in general and a couple minute walk to the nearest bus stop or train station. There are shops and restaurants in L'Alfas but you will likely want to visit Albir, Altea or Benidorm for more options/more life. Bus journeys are 1.5 Euros regardless of which bus or which destination. A private transfer (taxi) to 45 minutes from the airport to the campsite for 5 people and cost us 100 euros return.

Room Tip: Try and get as close to reception as possible so you don't have to walk too far to enjoy the fac...

This site in its self is quite reasonable and the staff are qute friendly and helpful The problem is if you are on the c&cc rally we had to work with the steward last year they act like the worst kind of site wardens. If you are one of the chosen few then you will be ok but be prepared to be disappointed . The rally is spread all over the site and you can be in the shade of one of the many casas . The only coach trips arranged are to blanked sales events with high pressure selling all other trips are on public transport as it is to much trouble to arrange proper excursions except costly professionally organised ones
