Driving in to Cartagena, it was so easy to get to this hotel, and yet it was only a short walk away from the places I wanted to visit; and early Saturday afternoon, I was able to park right in front for free until Monday morning.

The room I was given was great: it was on the top floor and had a large balcony to the front of the building, giving great views over the city. Although it was maybe a little tired, it was comfortably furnished with a large bathroom (and a jacuzzi).

There is a more formal restaurant as well as a cafe attached to the hotel. Breakfasts were served in the cafe and there was no buffet due to covid prevention measures, but food was good and portions reasonable. Residents in the hotel got a discount on dinner in the cafe, which was exceptionally good value.

This hotel needs some money spent on it to bring it up to modern standards even for a 3 star.
The restaurant is very nice and modern and has had money spent on it but the rooms have not had any upgrade in a long time. The staff were lovely especially in the restaurant and the food was very enjoyable.
However, We could not understand why we were given disposable plates, cutlery and cups for the 4 breakfasts we were there when some others were given proper items during the same meal.

The rooms were really old fashioned and quite dark. There were almost no electrical sockets so we had to unplug the room phone next to our bed for charging mobiles. The beds were poor quality with mattresses as hard as boards and very uncomfortable. Old sheets and blankets, not duvets.
No waste paper bin in bedroom, only 1 in the bathroom. Wall light shade very stained with water marks.
We were only given a small water bottle each on our first day and had to buy our own big one for 3 people.
The bathrooms were clean but unhygienic with black mould on both bathroom ceilings due to zero ventilation or extractor fans. Big cracks in the walls, ceilings and tiles.
Toilet seat needed replacing as there was a section that had peeled off, this is very unsanitary.
There is a problem with the plumbing as the bathroom emitted sewage/drain smells the whole time we were there.
Another unsafe issue was that there was an electrical socket of some type with a loose cover hanging sideways by one screw so we could see the wires beneath

The location of this hotel is superb. Very close to the train and bus stations and the most famous monuments. Hotel room a bit dated, large bathroom, fridge available. But there is no kettle or cups to make yourself a cup of coffee or tea. The breakfast was good. We only stayed one night at the hotel so overall we have nothing to complain about.
