“Nice street .”

Paseo de la Florida
Reviewed 27 May 2018 via mobile

Paseo De La Florida is a nice street that we walked down on our visit to the magnificent Ermita De La San Antonio De La Florida ( Royal Chapel Of St Anthony Of La Florida ) which is the beautiful little church famous for its Goya frescoes, it's a nice street ,there's a pretty park here called Jardines De La Rosaleda which is lovely and some great cafes and restaurants, it's a nice area .
Paseo De La Florida is easy to locate, we jumped the metro down to stop Principe Pio which drops you off practically by the street.
Well worth checking out.

This street from Puerta De San Vicente and eventually becomes Avenue De Valladolid. I'm not sure why our tour took this route, maybe to escape the traffic congestion although this street is also busy. There are buildings on either side, a shopping mall, Metro station, restaurants and cafes, the river and parks are close by.
We were given a brief summary of the historical aspects of the street, the most important being Goya's tomb in the Chapel of St. Anthony.

It starts at " Glorieta de Principe Pio" which is near to Gardens of the Royal Palace entrance. On one side there are the shopping mall, the metro station, the suburb station which used to be called " Estacion del Norte" and the bus station in the underground and on the side there are some hotels and some bars and restaurants.

Down the road there is one of the oldest restaurant "Casa Mingo" which is famous for its sider & grilled chicken. Then you have San Antonio church where you have one of the Goya's painting.

Every year in the month of June they celebrate "Feria de San Antonio" where you see people dressing up as " chulapo & chulapa" and dance chotis.

This is just a busy street near the Debod temple.
The street offers no Spanish uniqueness nor any reason for tourists to stroll in it.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a few days. It was a miserable experience. The room in this "four starts" hotel was missing a shampoo, shower hats, reading lamps, a bar, information on Madrid, telephone directory, and probably many other things I cannot remember about now. I just remember a feeling that the things I needed were not there. I had to ask three times for a shampoo and a hair conditioner; a shampoo was brought eventually, but not a hair conditioner, which I had to purchase in a nearby shop. However, the worst thing was the attitude of the personnel, who seemed to be irritated every time we asked for/about something. Even asking was not an easy task - in front of the reception desk, there were always people standing in line and you had to wait to get an answer to a simple question... If you arrive earlier, there is no chance to get your room before 2 p.m.. We were waiting sitting in the dusty hall and could see that people were checking out, but were told there were no rooms available even at 1:30 p.m. If you do not want to have your stay in Madrid ruined, avoid this hotel.
