The hotel is very central to all the sights in Madrid. Our room was large and comfortable. In all, it was clean -- except the floor. I took off my shoes and began unpacking -- they were black! There are several eateries very close, so we ate breakfast at one of them everyday. The hotel serves tapas and sodas at happy hour, which is a nice touch. The service was very good and the front desk personnel could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We would return.

We had a very pleasant stay at Catalonia Puerta del Sol. The room was not big but big enough for two and we did not hear any other guests. The beds were very comfortable and the room clean. Due to the double windows we did not hear too much noise from the street.
The staff was very friendly.
Being close to Puerta del Sol the hotel is perfect for any kind of touristic activities.
To those who are fine with a continental breakfast I recommend to have it in a nice café in front of the hotel. You will spend only 3€ instead of 20€ in the hotel to start your day.

Really central location. V clean and tidy and some interesting architecture. Rooms not huge but beds comfy.

Free coffee/tapas in the afternoon which was a nice touch. Didn’t eat in the hotel as it’s seconds away from a wealth of eateries. Try the fab food market through the other side of the Plaza Mayor, or better still the strip that is called Calle de las Huertas. The Galician restaurant near the bottom was superb.

Friendly helpful staff. Large rooms and bathrooms. Great sleeping mattress. Within walking distance of all sites. Comfortable, stylish and clean. NearPlaza Mayor, Plaze Del Sol, Santa Anna for tapas, 15 minute walks to Prado and Reina Sofia Museums.

Room tip: Courtyard exceptionally quiet.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and well kept rooms. Snacks free of charge in teatime from 5PM to 7PM. Smooth procedure of checking in and out. The small drawback - the double bed (as requested by us in reservation formular) turned out to be two composed one next to another single beds. It was not too comfortable.
