I took my mom and sisters to Franco Españolas for a bodega visit while they were visiting Logroño. Its proximity to Logroño's city center was a plus for us, and we were thankfully able to join an English tour so they could understand what was being said (they don't speak Spanish). The tour was comprehensive and covered each step in the wine-making process, and I appreciated the winery's historical artifacts/presentation in general. Diego was a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, and allowed me to try a different wine than the ones the whole group sampled when I asked. All in all, a fabulous bodega visit close to home!

The absolute best thing about this bodega is its proximity to Logrono. If you don't have a car this is the only winery you can visit independently. It is a short stroll across the river. There didn't appear to be any tasting flights available but if you ask for a menu you can order a wide selection.

We have been lucky to be taken around the bodega by Pilar, who speaks English (my boyfriend is Welsh and does not speak Spanish). We were the only 2 people booked that day for this hour.
It has been a very interesting tour, diving us in the knowledge of wine, and an short oenology class while tasting a white and a red wine. We were even given some "salchichón" to go with it, so it made it easier for me to drink the red. I highly recommend the visit as it is close to the city and reachable walking if you don't have a car.
Thanks Pilar for the visit!

This place was wonderful. Unfortunately we were late for the English tour but the Spanish tour was still great. The tour guide spoke enough English to answer our questions. Great wine tasting after. Highly recommend.
