We were allocated this apartment after a mix up over bookings and were very happy with it. Well equipped and well looked after, the apartment is comfortable and clean. The location in Ocean Village is great, just a short walk from good bars and restaurants, 5 minutes walk to Casemates Square and the start of Main Street and 10 minutes to the airport and the border. Highly recommended, attention to detail like replacing several dead light bulbs would elevate this from very good to excellent.
The apartment has a great location within ocean view, is very(!) spacious and set up with everything you need - in the kitchen, dining+living area, bedroom and bathroom with shower + separate bath, however some more basics such as bin liners or a clean sponge would have been nice.
We did have a problem with the hot water, but once we let amanda know it was promptly fixed.
The apartment was very spacious for 3 people it had all appliances that you need and they all worked we were right on the marina with easy access to bars & restaurants & only a 5 minute walk to Main Street for great shopping & eating
Gibraltar is a great destination for a short break. The apartment at Ocean Village was everything we needed for the four night stay with restaurants, shops and transport all within a few minutes walk.
Our host Amanda was very welcoming and helpful with check-In, check-out and providing information about the apartment and the location.
All round - an excellent break!
Item 1: Be sure to carry a translation book with you since the manager, believed to be Amanda Gomes, speaks broken English.
And don't count on your cell phone translation app to work since the apartment did not have wifi for the entire seven days we were there--although it is advertised as having it.
And that cute telephone sitting on the coffee table is just a prop. It didn't work the entire week we were there.
So, in order to call Amanda with a question (such as how to navigate the satellite television) or to make a dinner reservation, you must walk down the street to a cafe or bar with wifi, buy a little something for the privilege of using the wifi, and call from there.
The apartment, especially the bathroom, lacks lighting since many of the bulbs were burned out when we were there. This is where your cell phone will come in handy, as the light from it will assist you in shaving or applying make-up.
Don't overuse the bathroom sink or the shower. Once in the morning and once in the night will suffice as they drain VERY slowly and smell pretty bad.
This would be one very nice apartment if the owner or manager would lift a finger to help with its maintenance. but it's obviously nothing more than a revenue stream and a shillings-worth of upkeep is a shilling less in their pocket.
