The hotel could not have been better placed in town and had the added attraction of a pool but the bar and pool were closed from 2pm - 5pm which was a shame as we would have spent time and money there after a morning out. Previous late reviews had put us off but we'd booked and there was nothing else available even if we had wanted to relocate. The hotel is old and tired and could do with a lot of TLC because of what it can provide. We had no complaints about the staff or the cleanliness but the showers were not powerful and the toilet sometimes needed
more than one flush but it was a good price and we were out most of the time. Other more prestigious hotels were a bus ride away or a long hill walk so all things considered we were very pleased with our choice.

Hotel foyer looks good but rooms are only adequate. Very clean but shabby & tired.
The breakfast room & bar are around the corner & across the road. The doorway is unlit & easy to miss. Once there the bar/pool area is nice.
Beds are comfy but only one cheap pillow each.
Staff are superb though.
It is very well situated but over priced.

We flew to Gibraltar to attend the United nations jujitsu championships and stayed at the Bristol hotel. We knew it was the oldest hotel in Gibraltar before we went but it was still a shock on arrival. It really needs a face lift at least. The furniture is old and tired and so are the bedrooms. Breakfast ( If you can call it that) is in a separate annexe along with the bar and snack bar. You can either go up lots of stairs and across a walkway over the road or go outside the hotel turn right and right again . So you can't sit in the lounge with a drink at the end of the day. The air conditioning in your room is old and manually operated and too noisy to sleep. We have also come back covered in bites we could hear buzzing in the room at night.
The only good thing was the staff they are lovely.

This hotel is not comfortable! I stayed here with my adult son.

I will have to write a long list as the management do not care..I spoke to another traveller who reported to Trip Advisor 3 YEARS ago and these people still charge at least £90 a night. This is Gibraltar, part of the UK and the standard is very poor. Are there no workplace health and safety standards in place in this town??

As I write it is 5.40 am and there is drilling outside the window in the street below.

The windows are open because the
mobile air conditioner is very loud and drying and we have only turned it on when the mosquitoes start biting! There are no screens.

The carpet linen and furnishings and worn and dated

The bathroom has an unhygienic form of matting on the floor and has dated cladding -no tiling

There is a fridge that barely stays cold and no tea making facilities

One thin pillow each

No option to be 'not disturbed' The cleaner just unlocks the door without knocking

The only plus is it in the centre of town. The front of the hotel looks acceptable and 'quaint'

Gibraltar appears to be primarily interested in the cruise ship trade it seems.Gibraltar itself has a lot of history and amazing geography and sights but generally is tired and unkept unfortunately. It has new high rise building going on apparently as apartments

There is no such thing as a low fat cafe late!
