We stopped off at this hotel only for one night. It was conveniently located about 10 minutes walk from town. Easily placed for restaurants, bars and shopping.
Tidy hotel with a great pool. Some rooms are still to be refurbished.
Good car park facilities under hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbed room.

To Tarragona for a few days roaming the Roman ruins. The Astari is a little way out of town, on the old Roman road into the city, with the relaxed, local town beach within a few minutes' walk and the Roman centre 10 minutes away. Our room (with privately- screened balcony) faced the sea, and was quiet and well air conditioned. The very large, firm bed was extraordinarily comfortable. Bathroom a bit dated, but adequate enough.

The hotel appears recently refurbished in parts ( including the pool, with newly- completed lounger decked area) and is airy and modernist, if a bit spartan and - from the outside - a bit office- like. Neighbouring buildings overlooking the pool were low- rise blocks of flats.

We saw few other guests during our stay, and the public areas were mostly deserted. Breakfast provided a generous spread, with good bread and coffee. Other guests were couples of all ages, a few with small children. A taxi to the station cost around 12 Euros, and arrived 5 minutes after being called.

Very good free wifi.

Overall, a good base for a few days exploring the city, with the walk back just sufficient to settle dinner.

This a funny place. Modern but has a bit more room than the last one but the shower is a regular bath tub with the water piped to the middle of one side rather than the end. This makes entering and exiting a slippery business. Also the curtain doesn't quite cover things so it's windy as well. We really enjoy a balcony, but there were no seats. Pool balconies had chairs, but not street balconies. Still enjoyed being out there.

The regular breakfast room was being modified so we were served in another place on the first morning. Breakfast gal is fine; offered scrambled eggs freshly made if we wanted them. The following days, breakfast was served in the regular room with a pool view. The pool area is being refurbished, but we don't swim so no problem. Front desk gal is very nice; explaining the garage to us was kind of funny. It is around the corner. You push a button and give your room number and she opens the door. To leave you push a button inside the garage and the door opens - or so we are told! Haven't tried it yet but the parking is only half full so they are escaping somehow. We liked having our rental car off the street.

Unfortunately there are two outlets that are wired weirdly which cuts the number of working outlets to two! The bed feels better than most we've had so that's a good thing. Parking is 9 euros; breakfast 9 euros, reasonable in my opinion. Wifi seems to be good. The big thing seems to be the location: 2-3 blocks from ancient ruins and just around the corner from the old part of the city.

Fridge is pretty full of mini-bar stuff but there is SOME room for our water & cheese. AND the a/c is on and working whenever we are in the room (with our card in the switch). We would return.

+ WiFi, bed, lots of free parking spaces near hotel.
- walls are thin as paper, poor/rude Check-in, furniture have seen better days, no information about construction works around pool, poor selection of tv channels.

Decent sized room with extremely comfortable large beds. Bathroom was adequate with toiletries provided, although hot water was coming out slightly brown, which didn't make for a good look when having a wash. Large balcony with 2 chairs but no table. 10 minute walk to Ramblas or Old Town. Pool area looked nice but weather was not good enough to enjoy it. Did not try breakfast. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Go for a garden or pool view room if possible. Rooms overlooking the road would be quite noisy I think.
