The hotel is very nice and clean pet friendly and spacious with good English speaking friendly staff. The location is in the middle of the city so everything is at hand with lots of snack bars available which is just as well as the hotel restaurant wasn't open until after 19.00 and as we had been driving for 5 hours we didn't want to wait another 2 hours to eat.
The following morning we enjoyed a very varied buffet breakfast, it was just unfortunate that the staff had forgotten to switch on the bain marie for the English part of the breakfast, but the apologetic waitress soon microwaved what I asked for.

We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel is in a good location, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants etc and the old town, which is well worth a visit. The rooms are of good size with a large bathroom, with shower over the bath. The huge bed was very comfortable. However, other guests talking in the corridor late at night and banging doors, together with revellers in the square outside, meant I didn't sleep too well. I wish people would be more considerate to other guests by whispering as they return to their rooms late, and not bang the doors!

We didn't have breakfast included, but instead had breakfast in the adjoining cafe, which was a lot cheaper. We didn't eat in the restaurant either as they don't open until 8.30pm and we prefer to eat earlier.

The Carlemany is a well situated modern hotel, an easy 5 to 10min walk to the excellent train/bus station or the old historic town. (It's approximately in the middle between the two.)
We booked a superior double and were not disappointed, the air conditioned room was spacious and well appointed with an excellent bathroom (`walk in` shower only, no bath) and the bed was huge and very comfortable.The provision of a kettle for tea or coffee was also a pleasant surprise as we find this is unusual for a Spanish Hotel.
Staff were welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay and the check in & out were straight forward.
We did not choose any meal options however there are plenty of good quality cafes and restaurants in Girona, especially in the old town. It's not a large city (a three night stay was just about right for us.)
We did see other good hotels however we choose the Carlemany primarily for it's location and it worked out well.
Travel to or from the airport by bus, at a very reasonable price, takes about 20-30 mins.
