Great location and lovely staff

Hotel has two exits onto different streets, both are just a few steps from bridges over the river. In additon to the cafes and small supermarket opposite it means that the many cafes and bars of the old town are very closeby.

Room was fine, good size, twin beds, big bathroom, room safe but not much of a view.

Breakfast was standard European fayre, breads, hams, cheeses etc.

Hotel was very popular with cyclists.

Room Tip: Best rooms are away from the staircase as the noise from reception/cafe reverberates up the staris.

Hotel is located in the heart of Girona and that was the reason we reserved it for 10 nights. Although the location is excellent, we were pretty surprized with the type of room we recieved. It was new and looked very well. We upgraded it to have 3 beds in it. And here come the problems:1.There is no closet in the room whatsover. So for 10 nights we had to live on our suitcases all over the room 2. for some reason the window could not be closed, and also the radiator could be colsed...1 so its either its too cold or too hot or too noisy from the street...;-(. 3.There was a problem with the toilet and an electricity socket was damaged and therefore dangerouse (open wires in the bathroom). We told reception and they sent someone to fix both the day later. 4.unfortunately they were not fulling the soap in the bathroom so we had to buy soap...!!! when I asked the reception he was pretty nice and sorry - but he is alone in the hotel... so he gave me some soap in hands... this waas fo two days alredy - in these days thye did not clean the garbage so we had to fill grabage in nylon bags we bought... :-(
so you understand. The potential is there but for some reason either we did not have luck... but most probably the hotel is understaffed and not controlled well... pity. It seems we were the first guest who stayed there so many days... most stay for one or two nights and do not suffer the issus we had...

Firstly, thank you very much for your recent stay at the Hotel Peninsular and for taking some time to share your experience.

I would like to apologise on behalf of the team and myself personally, as well as share that our fundamental purpose is none other than to always offer a good service. That is why we have recently allocated more resources to ensure it.

As in all changes, there is always a learning and adaptation process where we look for corrections to adjust all the details until we offer the best service possible, where lack of soap, for example, just does not happen.

On the other hand, I would like to respectfully add that all our rooms have wardrobe space which we think is suitable for the space of the room and the number of people it can hold.

I stayed here for 2 nights. I was in Girona to watch football, Girona v Eibar in the 2nd Division of La Liga. I arrived by train from Barcelona. It took me less than 15 minutes to walk to the hotel. My room was relatively small but, it had every facility I needed for my stay apart from a tea and coffee facility. The breakfast was more than adequate with an excellent choice. The centre of Girona and the River Onyar is 5 minutes away and the Old Town and Cathedral 15 minutes away. It took me about 35 minutes to walk to the Montilivi Stadium home of Girona Football Club. Overall, I found Girona to be a gem of a place. It's a superb City to visit. I would recommend a stay at this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Peninsular in Girona July 2019 with a group of friends on a cycle trip. Unfortunately, three bikes were stolen from this hotel in the early hours of the morning. They were stored in a locked car park across the road from the hotel which was broken into. We were told that we could not take our bikes to the room, even though they were clean, and some were very expensive. The police were involved, and the hotel told us that they would contact their insurance and replace our bikes as they were at fault. As soon as we returned to Australia there was minimal contact and the hotel kept saying they would contact us and did not. After months of emailing back and forth the hotel offered 150€ ($240AUD) which is an absolute joke. Lucky we had travel insurance, but if we got to keep our bikes with in the first place this would not have happened.

Firstly, we would like you to know that we understand your discomfort. An incident as such is not supposed to happen and it shocked our Team and the Hotel’s Direction too. We understand how important our guests belongings are, and we all felt disappointed with the situation.

We would also like you to know that we did our best to manage whatever was needed to lessen the inconvenience. Every measure taken regarding the case was intended to make your stay as comfortable we could despite what happened.

The unfortunate event was an unusual and isolated occurrence. We are sorry if the measures taken did not fulfill your expectations and if the time taken for the management of the case felt long. As informed, the process with the insurance company and the police was not the swiftest, due to the nature of the event.

Lastly, we inform you that the Hotel is currently implementing changes to avoid that to happen again.

We truly hope you got to enjoy your stay and the city of Girona despite these facts, and we look forward to seeing you again, either to welcome you to the Hotel or greet you with a cup of coffee.

We stayed here over the weekend & were more than happy with our choice. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Free bike garage across the road for secure overnight parking. The room was clean & comfortable, however we could hear street noise at night from the 2nd floor. The breakfast was buffet with decent choice & a reasonable price. Great location for all things good in Girona.

Wifi did not work properly, which made my stay a complete mess. There were constructions in the hotel while my stay and the noise was horrible
However,Staff is really nice and breakfast is good. The rooms are pretty decent and the service provided was amazing
