The Hotel Peninsular is in a perfect position in the centre of the old town. A short walk to
The train station, Jewish Quarter, Cathedral etc.
The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are really clean and the beds
Very comfortable. Linen changed daily, room and bathroom excellent. We were in 107.
The breakfast from 7.30 - 10.30. There was a really good choice of foods and plenty of it. Again the staff very friendly, nothing to much trouble for them. We would
certainly stay there again.
Date of stay: September 2018
Room Tip: Room 107 was quiet, double glazed Windows. Air conditioning, first floor and lift.

We were recommended to stay here as it was very central. It was perfect we left our car at Girona Airport and got a taxi, good move. The hotel is very central for many restaurants especially La Tasca and many others plus lovely walks. Reception desk very nice and helpful

The hotel is in a very good location and the staff were very friendly and professional, but these are the few positives.

We were overall rather disappointed by the double room. The redeeming quality being that the bed was quite comfortable and an actual double rather than two singles pushed together as is often what we experienced travelling through various parts of the Catalan region.

However, our room looked extremely worn, the wall behind the door had a massive part where the paint and plaster had fallen away from wear. There were random, sharp-edged screws sticking out by a good 1cm from the wall - it looked like a piece of appliance had been removed but the screws not addressed. The carpet was very thin and scratchy, the air-conditioning was stuck on 23°C, so we had to manually change between settings 1-3 power at the wall to manage the temperature, and it made a horridly loud bubbling noise throughout the night.

Other amenities in the room included a typical sized TV, good electric shutters, and a small desk.

The bathroom was good-sized, though the bathtub was rather narrow so the shower curtain would stick to you during a shower. The bathroom itself had an odd damp smell.

The other disappointing thing was that we booked via Expedia, where the parking was stated as €8 per night. Most other hotels where we had paid for parking, the quoted amount reflected leaving the car there at least from check-in to check-out. But €8 reflects the price for 9pm-9am only. Leaving the car for 24hrs at the specially agreed Parking Constitució is €8 to the hotel for a discount voucher and then another €10 at the parking lot itself, i.e. €18 for 24hrs.

All in all, we would not stay again. We did a tour of various places around Costa Brava and stayed in some 2* hotels and hostels that did a better job. Even for the location, this was so disappointing.

We're pleased that the Hotel location and the staff suited your expectations. Moreover, we take note about the room, and we want to let you know that we fixed the temperature issue, and guests are able to change it at will as it was before.

We changed, a while ago, the parking price for 24h as well.

We kindly want to let you know that you will find someone at the reception desk the 24h, so we are able to help you with.

If you return to Girona and want to give us a chance, we kindly ask to contact me directly, so we can provide a special service.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable and tidy hotel, then I would highly recommend the Peninsular Hotel in Girona. It feels really comfortable when you arrive. Having just stayed there in a single room for the last 5 nights, I could not find anything that would stop me from booking again. Moderate sized, comfortable room, with nice clean bathroom and good shower. Air conditioning that worked well and friendly service. The back exit access from the hotel has you walking over the bridge to the Old Town in less than a minute after exiting the door. Good quality breakfast for less than 10 Euro, happy helpful staff, and less than a 15-minute walk to the train station. Have a look at this place because you can get anywhere in 15-20 minutes from the hotel. Plenty of restaurants, gelato stops and shops nearby.

Room tip: Upper floors seemed quiet.

This hotel is very nice and clean. It was pretty typical of a 3 star European hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. It is around a 5 minute walk to the central plaza of Girona, less to some parts of the old city, and 8-10 minutes from the train station. We had breakfast and it was good, very typical. I would stay here again for sure.

If you're looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you simply want a convenient no-frills base from which to explore the fascinating city of Girona, then you couldn't do better than the Peninsular. Our room, though small and pretty basic, was clean and reasonably quiet; the beds were comfortable; the bathroom was acceptable; the air conditioning worked. In fact, our only complaint would be about the unreliable wi-fi.
But the location ... ah, the location is magnificent! Less than a minute from the hotel entrance is the river Onyar (see my photo below). Five minutes' walk up the left bank of the river brings you to the Plaça de la Independencia, where you can get food and drink at all hours. Immediately across the river from the hotel, you find the pedestrianised Rambla, with shops, cafes and bars underneath the ancient arches. Passing through the mediaeval Jewish quarter, you can reach the cathedral in about ten minutes; access to the Roman wall is five minutes' stroll in the opposite direction ... and so on. Believe me, everything a tourist is likely to want to visit in Girona is within easy walking distance of the Hotel Peninsular. Oh, and the the bus and train stations are ten minutes' walk away as well. What's not to like?!
