I'm currently on holiday in Girona with my partner staying at the Gran hotel Ultonia,this is the last day of a week long holiday the hotel is very clean with modern decor, drawbacks for me at this hotel are, mattress on bed very hard, it is like sleeping on a floor. I did ask reception if they had a softer mattress and I was informed that all mattresses were the same. Reception did contact house keeping and someone did come up, removed padded mattress protector to see if that would make a difference but it was just as bad, I have had to sleep on a doubled up quilt, I think I have been fooling myself that it's bit more comfortable,another drawback is that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room so after 9am at night and untill breakfast area opens in the morning you cannot get a hot drink unless you venture out with hotel. I would not give it a 4 star ratting.

Came to Girona to celebrate my husbands birthday and so glad we choose this hotel. Perfect location with lovely staff. I emailed the hotel in advance to alert them to the fact we were celebrating a 50th birthday, they gave us a perfect room with an amazing view plus left a card and chocolates. Secret terrace bar is cool for drinks in the evening. Bar adjoining hotel reception also very good to sit out and relax and people watch. Mini bar in room very decent prices. We loved the city and the hotel and we hope to return one day.
