Stayed here for a couple of nights with a friend and had a lovely time. It's in a great location, the apartment is comfortable and most importantly clean. As it is situated off the plaza real you do get some street, so if you're a light sleeper than maybe look somewhere else. Had no issues except for the apartment be slightly cool at night.

I stayed in the apartment in April 2015.

When we got there we called the check in number, we weren't sure if we were even at the apartment, as the enternce is just a graffiti covered door in a side street. We called the number several times and it was engaged, finally after about 30 minutes we got through and the woman on the other end gave us all of the codes.

The room itself was basic. The bed was extremely creaky, every time one of us would roll over in the night it would wake both of us up, the mattress is old and thin too.

The worst bit about the apartment is the noise, it is right next to a busy square and a Cuban bar. It literally sounds like you have all of the windows open and that someone is on your balcony talking, it is that loud. This winds down at about 6am and then the delivery trucks start at 7:30am. Take heavy duty ear plugs, this is coming from a heavy sleeper!

The best bit is the location, close to wonderful restaurants, beautiful buildings and is in the heart of Barcelona. This place would be great if you were deaf, or on a party holiday where you were just going to pass out every night.

I love Barcelona, but I don't love this apartment.

Room tip: Maybe stay on a higher floor to reduce room noise, however there is only a tiny little lift.

Apartment was difficult to find in the first instance. Situated in an alleyway just off Plaza Real. Finally found it however, husband called concierge to gain access as instructed. Tried to give booking reference however definite language barrier and process ended after running out of numbers to quote from booking form only to learn it was the first number given twice before. Gained access to apartment. Forms on table. First was note instructing debit card details to be given and contract signed allowing Short Stay apartments to take deposit of 150 euros. Failure to complete and return forms by following morning to result in being locked out of apartment unless an admin fee paid and contract agreed to. No pen provided so had to hunt around La Rambla to find a pen to complete paperwork. Apartment is tiny! Electrical appliances were not in a safe condition with part of the microwave looking as if melted due to close proximity to hob! Self catering apartment - had to use a spoon to turn fried eggs as inadequate utensils. Sofa bed stole all room in living area. The bathroom...smallest shower area I've ever encountered. If tall you are in danger of constantly knocking the tap and either freezing or burning yourself. (Actually small water tank so more likely to freeze!) Toilet seat all scratched..was relieved to determine it was scratches rather than a hygiene issue! Large window in bathroom..was curious to see what was out there as bathroom faces into the building. Turns out it was the stuff of horrors, some sort of disused lift shaft or something! Went to Plaza Real for dinner. Paid 76 euros for meal..husband's meal was clearly a microwaved ready meal so watch out. Whilst eating ready meal at restaurant on first night table was approached by a disabled beggar. Restaurant staff chased him off. He headed down toward our apartment and proceeded to pick pocket a guy in a group looking in a shop window. Turns out he wasn't disabled at all as he legged it down the alley to make good his escape. Apartment was situated across street from a night club of sorts. The noise from the club went on throughout the night only to be replaced by noise from refurbishments being made to the shop 2 doors up and the constant rattle of trucks making their deliveries to local businesses. Sitting on the balcony was considered out of bounds. Over 1 night was watched thieves dividing up their spoils of the day, guys dealing drugs who on spotting us then started asking us for money and cigarettes. The highlight of the whole stay came when heading back to apartment after a day at the beach with 12 year old son to find a guy sitting shitting 2 doors up from our apartment; 20 foot away from folks eating meals and about 1 foot away from an interested shop owner who was standing watching him :S This guy was clearly out his face..he saw our approach, pulled up the tweeds ( shiny blue shell suit bottoms) and defecated all over himself! On the up side we were close to the taxi rank on La Rambla so had no problem getting an early taxi back to the airport. If you want to feel good stay away from feel good apartments. Perhaps would have had a better experience staying outwith city and travelling in. Unfortunately had not consulted Trip Advisor prior to booking!

Room tip: Don't choose this place at all. If looking to party and too drunk to notice what's going on..you'll be fine but check your pockets when sober!

Terrible!

We first arrived at the hotel at 11am and understandably the room was not ready. We returned again at 1400, and the people in the small reception stated that our room would only be available later in the afternoon, claiming the website stated check in FROM 1400 hours - meaning that the room could be available later in the day (MUCH later if they pleased).

Protesting this strange interpretation of rules did not help. 30 degrees celcius, and a kid did not opt for spending the day outside on the street waiting for them to take their time.

Hoping to get our money refunded and find a new hotel we tried to get them to sign a paper stating that we had been there after 1400 hours, but the man now got aggresive and started yelling at us.

We had no other option than to leave the premises and find ourselves another hotel!

Spending between 50-80 nights a year at hotels all over the world I have never experienced anything like this.

I strongly recommend: STAY AWAY from this hotel!
