Owner description: People have always wanted to understand more about the diverse nature of life on Earth and the mysterious manner in which animal species have appeared or disappeared in the course of history.Barcelona (Catalonia)and our paleontological MuseumHelping you understand just that is our mission here at the Barcelona Mammoth Museum, a museum of paleontology which was inaugurated in the year 2010—as it happens, just two years after the most recent Ice Age remains in this part of the world were discovered in the form of some 400 animal fragments unearthed in the seaside town of Viladecans.Housing a varied collection of prehistoric animal skeletons and other remains as well as life-size animal reproductions, the Barcelona Mammoth Museum is designed to offer both the general public and specialist researchers a window on the nature of the Ice Age and Ice Age animals. The exhibits were brought together with the help of some of the world’s most complete paleontological collections and with prehistoric remains excavated during expeditions in the Americas, Canada and Russia. On a visit to our Museum, visitors will be able to actually touch and feel the teeth and tusks of a mammoth, smell the horn of a woolly rhinoceros and see the faithful reproductions of primitive cave paintings that decorate the walls and ceilings. One of our rooms also showcases mammoth ivory carvings made by the most accomplished artisans from all over the world. Finally, the Barcelona Mammoth Museum also offers a variety of extra services, including specialist technical services for the scale reconstruction of Ice Age animals, a children’s club for budding paleontologists and an interactive guided tour designed for school visits.Time Table: Every Day from 10.00am to 21.00pm

Don't expect a gigantic museum, it is very small but informative. Information plaques are all in spanish but you receive a book with the information in english, this book needs to be returned when exiting the museum.

it is a see and touch museum, according to the plaques all things displayed are real however i do have my doubt's about that ..

ideal for letting childeren see a mammoth and tetting them touch it.

should take no more then 30 minutes to see it all.

Entrance fee is quite high for what it is 7,50€ but with barcelona card 3,75€. So if u have a barcelona card and some spare time, just visit it.

It takes about 15-30 mins to explore the museum and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The entrance fee is a little bit too expensive but it's a thing to do in a rainy day.

I was glad to learn that there was a mammoth museum in Barcelona and you're greeted with a massive model of one upon arrival. But the excitement ended there. The place is tiny, dusty and smelly. My eldest daughter liked seeing the models and few original fossils but neither of us learned anything about paleontology. Very disappointing indeed. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Marvelous location in a charming narrow street right in the middle of the old town, spacious museum, interesting excursion, impressive all in all. Definitely worth visiting!

The scheduled opening times: 10-21h. When we (my son, my nephew and me) arrived on 11 of february 2016, it was 10:55. It was closed! At the door, sticked at it from the inner part, a hand-written paper: "Abrimos en media hora". "Will open in 30 minutes." No date, no concrete time, no signature, no nothing. We waited in the rain for 45 minutes! Other turists passing by, looked and went away. Nobody from museums staff apeared. I remember passing by there the last year (but without having the plan to enter at that time; daytime was in between now known opening times - and it seemed to be closed, too.) NEVER AGAIN!
