“great - location, design, bad - got sick”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2011

There are many things i liked about the hotel - the location, the style it is decorated in, our lovely room, the terrace (which we somehow never used, but still, we could have :), the helpful service...
I only do not give the hotel 5 'circles', because there was a problem with the airconditioning while we were there and I got a cold since the room was freezing, and after having the air-con blowing cold air just over my head for an entire night. Although it was not too bad, i did lose one day, resting and medicating, to get back in shape for city-touring. At the time I was very annoyed with the hotel staff, because I kept asking them to turn off the air-con in the room but they would only do it for a short time, then turn it back on. I understood that beacuse of the problem thay could only turn it on and off for all rooms, but still... Anyway, it's all bygones now:)
Now for the good stuff:
Everyone said it - the location is perfect, the district itself so beautiful, felt safe, the street leads you right to Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera is just around the corner, Las Ramblas a lovely walk away, and when you get there, walk all the way to the sea...which we did every day
The hotel is beautifuly decorated. Well, at least for my taste it was perfect. We were in a room with a huge, lovely bathroom. We also had a small balcony overlooking the street. There is one problem with this location - the noise. The traffic is very heavy and constant. When you close the double windows, it is not a problem, but when they are open, it is very, very loud. Also, just like in almost all hotels - the walls are thin, and you hear a lot of what's going on. But there were no loud guests while we were there, so that was not a problem.
There is some food provided at the hotel - a continental breakfast, and they introduced a new service - sushi by order - while we were there. I though it was reasonably priced, but we never tried it.

Overall, I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Room number five is large and with the big bathroom.

What a nice place to stay in the Eixample area. This is a place to recommend. Our room was very nice with a small balcony. Furthermore there is a huge roof terrasse with very nice garden furnitures. The staff is very kind, helpful and service minded and also very international, we liked that. It was possible to order sushi which we did one evening and it was fantastic, Eduardo is a sushi master .... We could go back just for the sushi. The place is really good value for money.

Mum and two children, 13 and 14 on first time visit to Barcelona. This was perfectly placed in very pleasant neighbourhood with Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera within easy walking distance.
It felt like a very safe base and also very handy for Metro etc.
Staying here made everything seem easier all round.
Breakfast well worth it for pleasant start to day.
Staff friendly and helpful.

We had a triple room which is rare to find. Room and rest of the hotel were very clean, the service was great and there is a huge roof terrace that we enjoyed at mornings and nights. Staff was extremely helpful with city tips and we even enjoyed some very good homemade sushi from them. Only lesser point, the walls are quite thin, so if you are a light sleeper, earplugs can be helpful.

The hotel itself is in a beautiful old town house, which has an impressive entrance way. We were welcomed by the staff on arrival and they could not have been more helpful and friendly. They gave us plenty of tips for eating out etc. They made us feel very much at home.

We had a lovely room (number 4), with two tall shuttered windows leading onto a beautiful balcony overlooking a bustling street below. The room was very clean and spacious. The only thing I can find wrong with the room was that the bed was a very small double. The room could definitely accommodate a bigger bed and still remain spacious.

The terrace is an extra bonus and was a great place to relax with a drink during the afternoon when we needed to take some rest from the heat of the midday sun. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel. Instead we tried a cafe below the hotel, Their pastries and coffee were delicious and very cheap. It was an extra treat to sit back and take in the atmosphere and watch the locals rush in and out for their morning coffee and croissant.

We were very impressed by the hotels location- very central for exploring Barcelona's sights. We were walking distance in one direction to the Sagrada Familia and the other direction was Casa Batllo and Passeig de Gracia. Also, from the hotel It is only a 15-20 min walk to Placa de Catalunya to get the bus to the airport. The journey on the bus is approximately 20 mins.

We had a fantastic and memorable trip to Barcelona and we will definitely be returning here and to the Hostal Khronos and we will definitely be recommending it to friends and family!
