Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica

Prebook online so you can just turn up at your alloted time slot and therefore skip the queues! You can pay to just enter the basilica and then it is extra for the audioguide and more again to go up one of the towers. To be honest, the tower was a bit of a waste - other than the view you don't get to see much else so this is probably the bit to drop. The audio guide is worth the extra as it details info as you walk round which gives you a real sense of place. This is probably the one must do in Barcelona but definately prebook!

Absolutely worth visiting! I highly recommend taking an audioguide (there are many languages, including Russian) and climb one of the towers. The best time to climb the tower after three in the afternoon, so that the sun was from the back (west) side of the building.
