First thing is the service - they go above and beyond to help! Next - the cleanliness and the comfort - beautiful rooms, great beds, great bathroom. We had our best sleep here while on the Camino! Plus- Hostal Lar is right in the heart of Burgos and we could easily get to everything we wanted. A marvelous stay!

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. The management is superb, friendly and very helpful. The rooms are cozy and the bathroom is a bit small but they have everything you need and the place is kept immaculately clean. The location is great, within easy walk distance to both the heart of Burgos and the bus station. The price was extremely reasonable. An excellent value and I would stay here again anytime.

While the accommodations at Hostal Lar are modest Jose' Luis goes above and beyond in providing help. He made future reservations at other places along the Camino for us, confirmed our flight for flying back to the US, printed out our boarding passes, gave great advice on where to eat and places to visit. Pleasantest fellow one could find. A great ambassador for the city of Burgos too. Great location too...10 minutes from bus station, block off the Camino, right by city library which has free computers to get on the internet....

In the same year I repeted my experience to enjoy a few days in this hostal because of the price, the location and the kind reception of José Luis. Room has the basic services, clean, wifi and a good number of tv stations.

Room Tip: I asked to be in the main street rooms, just in front of the public library.

Second stop on our Camino, June 21th 2012 . Magnificent city. Hostal LAR is located at the limit between the old part of the town and the new one. A small river along the street, the Arch of San Juan (Camino de Santiago) just a few steps away, the Mercado,... the hostal is really very well located. And a good connection to the Central bus station, 10 min walk along the Rio Arlanzon .
The room was bright and decent, a very tiny bathroom, tired out bed linen and blankets, but very clean. Nice view to the new library. The insulation inside the building was not a priority. Obliging family running the hostal. Keys for every person to facilitate the access. One can hardly ask more for the price and place to sleep for two nights.
