the size of the synagogue - and what remains of its beauty and also the museum - both give us a hint of the
wealth and social status of the Jews in Toledo before the expultion .I was particularly impressed by the Hebrew scripts on the ancient Gravestones- poems which tell a story of a community that once flourished.

The area is beautiful with windy streets. There we visited two historic Synagogues and enjoyed an exhibition in the garden

The Jewish Quarter is a short walk from the Toledo's historical district and is worth a visit if only to take a quick tour of the Synagogue of El Transito (see my other review). There are a few small parks, some vistas and many narrow and hilly alleyways to explore. Apart from the synagogues there's little other evidence that this area was once home to the city's large Jewish community.

The Jewish Quarter has a ton of Historical moment. Looking at it however yeilds less. Still,
You can't miss it.

My daughters and i enjoyed both synagogues, but also watching for the signs in the road and on buildings that we were in the Jewish quarter. Toledo is a city in which we can easily see three major religions, and it's especially good to see Judaism well represented.
