My partner and I have moved to Spain and got the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, where we had a reservation at Hotel Bahia for 1 night before our 10 hour drive down to Alicante.

The hotel was not amazingly easy to find by road but not impossible so no major drama really.

We had secure underground parking which was great as I had a new car (Porsche) and needed it to be safe for the night.

The car lift was great, not used one before and it took us down to level -3 where our space was. Once parked you exit the car park via a door in to an undercount lift lobby then get the lift to level 0 where reception is.

The staff were helpful and we were checked in within 2 mins. The ‘normal’ lift can only be operated by inserting then removing your room card which is great as it stops non hotel guests getting up to rooms.

We got to the room (junior suite)on floor 3 and were delighted. The lounge was large and had a tv, sofa, coffee machine (also with decaf) which was great. Through some sliding doors you enter the HUGE bedroom with a massive bed and a chez longue at the end.

As this was a suite we had windows on 2 walls which gave a great view of the city and sea.

The bathroom was also large, with 2 sinks, jacuzzi bath for 2 people and a separate large shower. There was also a load of free bathroom goodies including shower gel, toothbrushes, comb and brush, sewing kit, shower cap, shoe polish, razor and shaving cream plus other bits and pieces.

There are also 2 large wardrobes just outside the bathroom.

The suite was clean and tidy, well presented and overall great.

The only criticism I have is not so much the hotels fault but Hotels.com any probably other third party sites, in that when booking please check extra costs as the car park costs €17 and tax is not calculated at the time of booking.

I would definitely recommend Hotel Bahia especially the suites.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Brittany Ferries package. The hotel is just across the road from the ferry port in the centre of Santander. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel had a great selection for breakfast. The staff spoke good english and the rooms were large, clean with great views. We are going to stay here again next year.

We stayed her after we came off the ferry from Portsmouth before our long drive south. It is literally opposite the port and takes minutes to drive or walk to.
Hotel is excellent, modern and very clean. Has a great cafe bar and has really secure parking which is extra but worth it.

A few weeks ago, we spent two nights at this hotel. Its location could not be better, close to the bus and train stations, across the street from the cathedra,l and within walking distance of many places of interest.. Our room did not have a sea view, but the night views of the cathedral were very enjoyable.

The hotel has a very modern design and decoration, and our room was relatively large, well appointed, fitted with all modern conveniences, and very clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, with lots of selections all of high quality.

Unfortunately, our visit to Santander was rather short, but we managed to enjoy and look at all the sites of our interest. This place and the hotel are worth a second visit.

We had two main meals while in Santander and both were at the Restaurant of this hotel. The maître was extremely friendly, gentle and very accommodating to all our wishes. We don't have enough words to praise the food quality and preparation, everything we tried in our meals was excellent. I must also add that the menu of the day represented excellent value.

As a final note and as an added recommendation, I would like to say that the chocolate and churros we twice enjoyed at the bar were just great. In my opinion, nobody heading for Santander should stay at Hotel Bahia. You are very likely to be pleased.

We booked this hotel as our ferry crossing was arriving early evening and we had a long drive to follow. In the event, the ferry was three hours late and we did not reach the hotel until after 10.00 pm.

We had an initial problem as I did not realise that you had to pre-book the car park and it was full. However the helpful staff did point me in the direction of a public underground car park a few moments away.

Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. As we were so late arriving we did not use the restaurant for dinner but the menu looked very interesting. Breakfast next morning was good and the coffee excellent. All the staff were helpful and attentive.

The hotels central position makes it very handy for the ferry and inward/onward connections. We would certainly use it again.
