Enjoying our early break in this hotel. Room lovely, maids pleasant and obliging. Food ok, you can always find something to your taste, hot food could do with actually being hotter.

BUT beware if you are on All Inclusive and English !! Bar staff are ignorant, rude and have a special nack of making you feel second class. Not only done it to me they have done it to my partner also. They are slow to serve you once they see you AI card, going anywhere but to attend to you.and when they do it is with reluctance.
If we were rude, drunk and out of order, at all, I could understand it on some level but we are fifty plus professionals and just want a relaxing week.

Dear guest. First of all we want you to receive our most sincere apologies. We will notify your comments to the person responsible for the Bar. We try always to give our guests a high level of service, and when these issues happen there is something not working well.
Anyway, thank you for your review, and overall we hope you had a pleasant stay with us.

Let's get the negatives out of the way to begin with, at each meal there was a hot and a cold buffet, the hot food could have done with being a little hotter. This is not unique to Diamante Suites but quite common outside the UK. The standard of the food was good, all of the staff from room cleaners through waiters and reception were superb. They could not possibly have been more helpful, kind and pleasant. The hotel is furnished and equipped to a very high standard, and although the hotel is large, it didn't feel so, due to excellent design. Everywhere was perfectly clean. We were on an all inclusive tariff where the range of available drinks was good. A slight criticsm was that in the middle of the day, only the pool bar operates, and for me drinking out of plastic is not good. If we return to Tenerife we would certainly consider stopping here again

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were first class

Stayed here for 5 nights for a New Years break. Originally we planned to fly to Belgium to celebrate in a landmark hotel, but decided going south because of the climate and for security reasons (actually a few days before our trip). So we booked this hotel on a last minute deal, unfortunately only seven hotels in Puerto de la Cruz had vacancies, and this was the only one Adults only, so not much to choose from.

The hotel is old and tired, as the majority of the hotels in Puerto de la Cruz. Everything resembles my childhood at the seaside resorts in Bulgaria (glorious days, eh?).

Pros:
Food: Great food for a buffet style restaurant in this price range. Enough variety for breakfast, non-repetitive meals for dinner, many choices of good food, I think no one will go hungry. Especially good was the New Years Eve dinner. Regrettably it didn't last 'till dawn as is customary in my fatherland :) Good live cooking station, where the food is made before your eyes. Many fish options and local dishes. Of course keep in mind it's a low-end property, don't expect miracles. No espresso here, awful coffee and juices.Good and efficient service. Fast replenishment of dishes. Watch for the closing time.
Cleanliness: good cleanliness everywhere, except for the dishes in the canteen.
Service: Good service at general. Nice staff, doing their job without going the extra mile.

So-so:
Location: excellent location for the Loro Park and the Playa Jardin beach, a bit out of the way for the city centre. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel is located on very steep hill. Tip: There is a entrance at the lower part on the same street, find it and use it to save you a good 10 minutes huffing and puffing uphill (the door opens with a key card for your room).
Shuttle: free, takes you to the mall (city centre), but the last one is at 18:20 weekdays (18:30 back), no shuttle provided on Saturday afternoons and Sundays
View: we had a partial sea view, our room was facing a gray building and only a patch of blue sea was visible.
Value: I found it overpriced, especially for the New Years Eve, but the price was similar to other hotels in Puerto de la Cruz, so it is OK.
Bar: Dull and mediocre, has a nice view and is reasonably priced though.

Cons:
Freezing cold room. That was totally unexpected for the climate. Outside it was 17-22 degrees C during our stay, inside maybe 10. Dank, sunless, facing north room. Non-operational aircon. We kept it livable only with two heaters working 24/7, and that was for the bedroom only, the bathroom and the living room were pretty cold. The couch in the living room was pretty damp too, there was nothing we could do (we were barely allowed to get the second heater after complaining). So were the sheets, but they got dry after we managed to heat up the room. Everything in room is dated.
Bathroom: Tiny, uncozy bathroom. Clean, but uncomfortable, depressing and cold. Old sticky smelly curtain. Something that I cannot put my finger on was lacking, but it makes you stay shorter as possible. Maybe it is a water saving policy :)
Entertainment: Dull. Especially depressing was the New years Eve show. You could have much more fun staying at your room and doing nothing.
Towels : Awful. Old, worn towels, rough on touch, so if don't like a strong scrub treatment, bring your own. Only three towels for room. Again, BYO.
Toiletries: Puny piece of soap, two combs, shower gel dispenser, which was empty and refilled at day three. Of course we brought our own toiletries.
Bedding: Cheap poor-quality sheets, old blankets. Dreadful pillows too.
Pools: two outside pools, freezing.
Furnishing: have seen better days
Bed: good sized, but very hard bed. All the beds are pushed together.
Outlets:Not enough electrical outlets, but that's typical for such aged places.
Wifi: non-existent. Paid wifi connection in the lobby only. A shame. Look at the bright side: you have more time for relaxing.
Amenities: Just a fridge. No tee/coffee making facilities, no mini bar, no nothing. Oh, yeah, a museum piece of a hairdryer.

Actually we had a great time, Puerto de la Cruz is such a gem, Teide volcano and Loro park are absolute must. The hotel didn't meet our expectations. But it's not that bad either. So, browse more, read more and choose wisely. :)

Recently back from a month long half board holiday at the Diamante Suites and had a brilliant time. Suite ( sitting room and bedroom with e-suite) was cleaned daily with fresh towels most days and bed linen changed frequently. Pool area was spotless with plenty of sunbeds for those who just want to chill out. Food was great, with plenty of choice, carvery every night and a good choice of salads and vegetables. We didn't stay in to watch entertainment as there is a great little bar at the bottom of the hill (opposite the Turquesa Playa Hotel) so can't comment on that but during the day animation team were really good with various games (rifle shooting, archery, etc). Our recommendation is that you ask for a room with a mountain view as you get the sun virtually all day on that side of the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms with mountain view have sun virtually all day

Just back from a week at this hotel from 5th -12th February. On arrival at hotel first impressions where excellent. We asked for a room at ground floor with view of pool, sea or mountain. We where put into a room at ground floor almost basement with a view of private apartments. To me ground floor would be the floor of the main reception area/main door...not here. The room was dark, could not pull curtains due to being so close to a path and private apartments. The room was very clean and spotless ...no complaints there. We stayed half board but the meals where just ok, not very warm and more waiter staff needed. A microwave would come in handy here to reheat food. Pool area was spotless and loads of sunbeds. The bus providied by the hotel was excellent as was the taxi's to and from the hotel or should I say up and down the hill. Although this hotel is in a good location it is on a hill but then again most of the island is on a hill. While we where in Tenerife, the carnival was on....Beware of pick pockets...my husband lost his camera but this has been reported to police. There is no Thomas Cook rep visiting this hotel. All in all we had a good holiday but not happy about the room. Ana at reception was very helpful and friendly. Would definately return to Teneriefe but perhaps a different hotel next time.

Room Tip: Do not ask for a room at ground level...you will be put down in the basement with views of private apartments and they dont get any sun.
